Bless my daughter's heart, she's been talking about making me a cake for Mother's Day.

But Mommy is on a diet (down 8 pounds, woohoo), so we're taking a page out of IndieTutes and making a can cake together!

Bonding time without the calories -- tastes good already.

Inspired by Food Network's Ace of Cakes, IndieTutes covered different-sized cans with white paper, then let the marker-ing flow.

You can use a piece of cardboard for the base and let them decorate -- or cover it in aluminum foil for extra shine.

Once they're done marker-ing and sticker-ing and glitter-ing their cans, glue one on top of another to make a multi-layer can cake. Don't forget to carry it to Mom in bed -- that's the way she likes it.
