Mom Confessions: I Don't Like "Sharing" Mother's Day With My Mom

It's time for a Mom Confession -- because, let's face it, we're real mothers and sometimes it doesn't work the way the parenting books say it should.

This Week's Confession:

"I hate sharing Mother's Day with my mother. It's only my second one and like last year, my mom wants to do something with us. She lives a few hours away so we either have to drive all the way to her house (and back) or meet her somewhere. I don't like the restaurant she's picked to eat at this year. I just want to stay home and relax, but I can't. Even though I'm a mother, I'm also a daughter. I know it sounds selfish, but shouldn't Mother's Day be for me too? -- anonymous

Is it okay to blow off your mom for Mother's Day and do what you want?
