Easter Dress Decision: Traditional or Trendy?

Girls Cotton Posy Dress; J.Crew
I can never decide whether to get my daughter an Easter dress that's traditional or something a little more modern.

For the past two Easters (Christmas too), I've gone trad-ish -- smocked silk dress with a Peter Pan collar, and a sash tied into a bow in the back (though my bows are sad and limp -- sorry, Grammy). She wears the dress once and that's it. Every time, I consider a trendy dress I feel like I'm breaking some unspoken rule. Or that the dress somehow isn't appropriate.

It's just a holiday thing -- otherwise my daughter is rocking out in sparkly skull tees, shiny faux leather pants, and Chuck Taylor high-tops. This year, I've decided to go for it. I got her the dress shown here with a cute pink cardigan -- she can wear it on Easter and all summer long. It's comfy and she likes it. And no bow to tie!

(Okay, so I've also ordered her a sweet old-fashioned smocked dress with a Peter Pan collar -- just to be safe.)
