Mom. Dad. It has come to our attention that there is a real problem in our schools. I know what you're thinking. Bullies. Kids going hungry. Common Core! Alas, it is none of those. Have you heard of the detrimental effects of teachers using, shudder, RED PEN?

You haven't? Well then! You are about to be schooled in the danger of all things red. See, Mounts Bay Academy over in Jolly Old has forced its teachers to replace their pens with green and purple when they mark up students' worksheets because "red ink was a very negative colour."

Another day, another trip to buy a last-minute gift, am I right? It never fails. Every time I let my guard down and think I've finally got it all tapped, the jolt of panic hits -- "Oh crap! I haven't gotten a gift for so-and-so yet!" Of course, by then it's too late to order online, and I'm pretty sure I haven't enjoyed going to the mall since like 1986. So now what?

Well, here's what I say. Don't underestimate your local drugstore. Beyond the decent bottles of wine, pricey liquors, and that rack of gift cards to pretty much anywhere (all good gifts in their own right), most drugstores have lots of nice gifts no one will guess came from the drugstore.

On The Prowl, we rounded up all kinds of fun presents just to show you the possibilities. Check out this preview of gift-worthy goods you can find right at your local drugstore.

Poor microwave oven. It gets no respect! The stove and the oven get all the credit for doing the real cooking, while this unsung appliance is used mostly just to reheat. The Boulder, Colorado house where JonBenet Ramsey died in 1996 has been listed for sale for nearly $2 million -- though it seems absolutely unthinkable that anyone would want to purchase it. And considering this is the fourth time the current owners have tried to unload the place, it's clear that they're having more than a tough time of finding the right buyer.

At 7,240 square feet with 5 bedrooms and 6.5 bathrooms, the home is stately, luxurious, and in a sought-after location. But that doesn't change the fact that one of the most horrible unsolved murders in U.S. history took place inside its walls.

Oh, and would you believe that the real estate listing on Zillow even shows a photo of the basement where that poor, beautiful little girl was found strangled to death?

Aside from the odd yoga class, I haven't seen very much of my bare toes in the last, oh ... six months. But boy oh boy am I looking forward to the end of winter and the onset of sandal season! However, thanks to the odd yoga class, I do know that my poor feet, stuffed into Uggs for the entire winter and basically ignored, are due for some tender TLC and pampering. Put it another way: I need to do a little groundwork before I sit myself in a pedicure chair. It's only decent.

You can have your corned beef and cabbage for St. Patrick's Day. For me the holiday means one thing: What foods can I dye green? I'm not talking already-green foods like broccoli and kale -- those are our everyday foods! (Wink!) I mean, whipping out ye lucky old green food coloring to give everything a bit o' the emerald.

Not every food lends itself well to green food coloring. So here's a few foods you can get away with tinting without (hopefully) ruining your kids' appetites. Or your own.

Sigh. You know what I most definitely want to have in my next life? A Facebook marriage. Not your regular husband and wife struggling to balance work, their relationship, and kids kind of marriage most of us are accustomed to.

Nope. That's for the birds. But if we could all live in the perfect utopia that is the type of marriage people can't resist trying to paint a picture of on Facebook? There would be, like, zero divorces in this country.

Why would anyone want to leave something so pure, blissful, euphoric, and simply freakin' awesome?!? It would be like being on vacation or attending a super cool party or something -- every day for the rest of your life.

I have a confession to make. I'm somewhat of a handbag snob -- but in the sense that I just can't seem to justify shelling out a ton of cash for something that is going to wind up with crushed crayons and goldfish crackers in the bottom of it.

Yes, I'm saying I refuse to carry anything but cheap bags (at least until my kid turns 18 or whatever). That being said, you would not believe how many people think the red satchel bag I currently carry around is designer -- and they're simply floored when I tell them it cost $34.99 and I bought it at Target.

Like seriously -- people look at me like I have two heads when I tell them it didn't cost a fortune.
