Sending your kid off to college for the first time can be terrifying. Especially if you went to college yourself. But, also, it can be great. And awful. And awesome. And the worst. In other words, parents run the gamut of emotions when it's time for their baby to leave the nest.
Here are the 5 stages every parent goes through when they're sending their first kid off to college. Don't worry, you'll (and they'll) be okay.
Stage 1: The OMG-my-baby's-leaving-me-how-am-I-going-to-go-on?! stage. You kinda feel like this:
Stage 2: The hey-this-might-not-be-so-bad stage. You'll have some freedom, a bit of your old life back. You feel like this:
Stage 3: The good-lord-I-have-to-pay-for-this stage. You're all:
Stage 4: The OMG-I-remember-MY-college-years stage. Typically happens when you drop your kid off at school.
Stage 5: The hey-all-this-peace-and-quiet-and-cleanliness-aren't-so-bad-at-all stage. Actually, it's kind of awesome!
