Teen fashion styles have always been something that have annoyed parents. I bet when teens were wearing pioneer dresses and petticoats, parents were still all, "What is that you're wearing?! You're not going out of the house like that!" As someone who has been known to wear Spandex pants and fishnet shirts in her youth, part of being a teen is pushing boundaries so you can emotionally separate from your parents. Which is a fancy way of saying girls who wear revealing short-shorts are just trying to grow up -- not necessarily advertising sexual open season. But one dad is calling hooey on that. He decided to teach his underdressed teen daughter a lesson -- by wearing the same butt-baring shorts she was. The pictures have since gone viral and parents everywhere are calling Scott Mackintosh a brave, brave man!

It all started when the Mackintosh family -- which has a fairly strict dress code -- decided to go out to dinner. Scott says there is no "mid-drift or low-cut shirts, no short-shorts, short skirts, and we even go as far as saying no sleeveless shirts unless playing sports or on the beach" in his family, so when his daughter, Myley, wouldn't change out of her short shorts, Scott decided that instead of getting into a "major battle" he would just go ahead and -- copy her look!

After all, if Myley was going to insist on embarrassing the family with her ass hanging out -- dad would do the same! As he wrote:

I decided to make a "small" statement on how her short-shorts maybe aren’t as "cute" as she thinks!

Scott ran to the bedroom and cut his jeans into short-shorts, the hem of the jeans coming just below his crotch. He then put on a shirt that made his point even more clear. It read: BEST. DAD. EVER.

And he was ready for some dinner!

When his daughter didn't react too much to his shorts (though everyone else was aghast), he decided to take it to another level. After dinner, the family went miniature golfing, where strangers lined up to snap pics with Scott.

His daughter still claimed she didn't mind his appearance -- until it came time to get some milkshakes. Then she desperately begged to use the drive-thru instead of walking into the shake store. By the end of the evening, she'd had more than enough embarrassment.

Scott says his daughter never thanked him for the lesson in sartorial sense, but Scott seems to be enjoying his 15 minutes of viral fame anyway. As he puts it:

My daughter will always know that her dad loves her and cares about her enough to make a fool out of himself.

Something tells me she'll probably think twice about the short-shorts from now on.

How do you get your kid to dress appropriately?
