Snoop Dogg's Plan to Smoke Pot With His Kids Isn't as Nutty as It Sounds

Say What!? 22

snoopNothing about Snoop Dogg suggests he'd be a conventional, suburban parent, but his latest confession is shocking to say the least. The rapper, who recently changed his name to Snoop Lion, says that he "would love" to teach his kids how to smoke weed. Not ride a bike, not about the birds and the bees, but how to smoke weed!

My initial reaction: "That's ridiculous! That's crazy!" I thought. But after really listening to his reasons why, I think Snoop may actually have a legitimate point. I'm serious!

"It's not that I would ever push weed on our kids," he told the January issue of GQ magazine. "But if they wanted to, I would love to show them how, the right way, so that way they won't get nothing put in their sh-t or overdose or trying some sh-t that ain't clean."

Doubt I would sign on for such a liberal pot policy in my house, but I can't deny the merits of his argument. He wants to make sure they know what they are doing and not get duped by a laced joint, which happens to many unsuspecting kids, I am sure. Hate to admit it, but Snoop actually makes some sense. Fact of the matter is, kids who want to smoke pot will find a way to smoke pot. I suppose parental guidance is better than worrying about them indulging in the (illegal) act unchecked.

As a teen, I knew kids whose parents introduced them to alcohol with the idea that it takes away the mystery and excitement of sneaking around and drinking with their friends. They even preferred their kids to drink at their house rather than risk drinking and driving. I wonder if being more open with our kids about drugs and alcohol could help keep them out of danger? It's a question worth considering. That said, not sure I could ever be that progressive. I'll leave that experiment to Snoop and see how his kids turn out.

What do you think of Snoop's plan to teach his kids how to smoke pot?
