2 Boys Meet By Chance & Discover They're Long-Lost Brothers

OMG 20

Don't you just love those crazy twist-of-fate stories that make your jaw drop to the floor in awe? If you do, then you're in for a real treat after hearing about two boys who randomly met one day and figured out they were actually brothers.

This past June, 12-year-old Isaac Nolting was having fun at his local pool when he met another boy, 13-year-old Dakotah Zimmer. While they were hanging out with mutual friends, they started to realize they had more than a few things in common.

Their buddies commented on how alike they looked, even going so far as to notice that the boys had the same hands, feet, hair, nose, and mannerisms.

And finally someone piped up and asked if they were brothers, and that's when Dakotah told the group that he did, in fact, have a brother, but he'd never met him. He'd been adopted by a woman named Dawn when he was an infant.

I'm sure you can guess what happened next -- Isaac looked at him and said, "That's my mom's name."

(Ohhhhh, do you have chills yet?!?)

Isaac went home and confronted his mother that night, and long story short, his intuition was right -- Dakota is indeed the long-lost brother he never knew he had until that fateful day hanging by the pool.

And perhaps the best part of this story, aside from how astounding it is that they happened to find each other, is that they've now become best friends.

Issac's mother says, "You can just tell they’re brothers. It’s the strongest bond that I’ve ever seen. It’s like they were never separated. For being apart for 10 years and 20 minutes away, they picked up right where they left off."

OMG. I've always been a huge believer in the whole "everything happens for a reason" thing. Hearing about the chance meeting between these two boys only makes me more sure that there are some things that are just way too incredible to be mere coincidences.

Someone or something definitely guided both Isaac and Dakotah to the pool on that exact day because it was the time that they were supposed to finally meet. Doesn't it seem kind of ironic that they lived in such close proximity to each other but never met until they were old enough to realize they were related?

If they'd been little kids, they probably never would've picked up on their physical similarities. Fate definitely works in funny ways, doesn't it?

Do you think Isaac and Dakotah meeting was more than just a coincidence?

amazing! what an incredible twist of fate for these two boys, and how lucky they are to have found each other. i'm a firm believer in 'things happen for a reason' and this would be no exception.

There are no "accidents."

That's an awesome story. :-)

That is a great story...  Sounds like their mother chose life over the other horrible alternative, and then graciously/selflessly chose adoption, fulfilling the lives of another set of loving parents...

As an adoptive parent, this was fairly confusing to me at first. I think the author meant to say that Dakota was placed for adoption by Dawn, not adopted by Dawn.  This is a great story but wonder how Dakota feels to know he was placed for adoption when his brother was not.  My son is in that situation and believe me, it's not easy to explain why a parent would keep two siblings and place the other for adoption.  I hope his parents handle this well.

Don't get me wrong. I admire her for making a VERY hard choice and loving her son enough to make sure he had a loving home rather than choosing to abort.

Reminds me of a story my mother used to work with a lady who decided to adopt. She adopted a young boy and before long they decided to adopt another. The second time they got a small girl, a toddler if I remember. When they brought her home the boy ran to her and wouldn't let go of the girl much to his parents confusion. They figured out later they were siblings that had been separated. Talk about fate.

No Heather, Dakota meant adopted. Issac was adopted by a woman named Dawn. It's correct.
