Kids hate homework. Parents hate homework too, but not for the reason you might expect: I hate homework because it never goes away! The papers come home in the backpacks, they go back to school in the backpacks, then they inexplicably come back home again in the backpacks ... and because you never really know if it's okay to throw them out or not, they end up piling up various corners of the house until finally you feel like you're going to be buried in an avalanche of math quizzes and vocabulary study sheets.
So I LOVE what 17-year-old Kara Koskowich did with her old homework collection: Made a graduation dress out of it! A cute graduation dress at that!
What a brilliant way to recycle. Of course, not every kid is a gifted designer like Kara. Here are a few homework re-purposing ideas for the non-fashionistas out there:
Turn it into wallpaper.
Stuff it into saggy couch cushions.
Use it for wrapping gifts.
Crumple it into balls and have "snowball" fights in the summertime.
What would you like to do with your kid's old piles of homework?
