When I first heard about Miley Cyrus and her engagement to Liam Hemsworth, I rolled my eyes. Not that I'm not happy for the girl, I just find it funny that we're all supposed to sit around and act like this is normal. This is not normal.
And I'm going to go out on a limb here, but I think her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, agrees with me. He has quite a few concerns when it comes to his first born tying the knot at such a young age ...
After the news broke, Billy Ray tweeted what any father would (you know, if most fathers used Twitter).
All I ever hoped for as a Daddy was to see my kids reach their dreams. To find happiness...peace of mind ...and someday know... true love.
Sweet, right? Not freaking out. Cool as a cucumber. Maybe he's so calm and collected now because he's hoping that his little girl wont be walking down the aisle any time soon. A source revealed to Radar Online that although he's not opposed to the marriage, he's concerned about how young they are.
[He] hopes the engagement will be very long. It's certainly not easy for Billy Ray to realize that his oldest daughter is getting married. In Billy Ray's eyes she will always be his little girl.
This is pretty refreshing to hear that he's concerned. Very often, we see young stars fall in love and start acting like grown adults. But, it's nice to know that Miley has a strong father figure who is looking out for her. After all, if she gets her achy breaky heart broken ... she'll be running home to Daddy.
Do you think Billy Ray's concerns are normal?

I am happy for them each to their own, it is always hard for parents to see their child grown
DH and I got married at 20 and are celebrating our 5 year wedding anniversary at the end of the month. So I disagree with the whole premise of your article, and from members I've met on this site I find it hard to believe that marrying young is so abnormal.
Honestly, I think the fact that it's a celebrity relationship will have much more of an impact over whether it lasts than their ages will.
My husband and I got married at 18 and 19, a year after he left for the US Navy. We are now 20 and 21 and due any day to have a little baby girl (yes, PLANNED) and celebrate our 2 year anniversary (been together over 4 years). Just because they're young doesn't mean they can't have a happy, successful marriage. It isn't uncommon nowadays and just because some idiots abuse the privilege of getting married doesn't mean you should talk down on others for doing it.
Chris is actually Billy Ray's first born...
Being that they are both celebrites and young, I don't think they'll last. Tons of celebrities who are older and more mature get married then divorced. I don't think they are any different.
