Well, it looks like Teen Mom star Amber Portwood can kiss her reality TV career goodbye -- at least for the next few years or so. An Indiana judge has just sentenced her (at her request) to five years in prison, where she will be placed in an incarceration-based treatment program. And considering she chose to forgo a rehabilitation program in exchange for prison time, I'm guessing she's well aware that she needs serious help to get her life straightened out.
And according to her fellow Teen Mom cast member Catelynn Lowell, Amber is hoping that at least some good can come out of her ordeal. Catelynn admitted that Amber has told her she "hopes other girls learn from her mistakes."
She's certainly made a lot of them, but I still can't help but feel a little bit bad for her -- because she finally seems to be realizing that she's made some terrible choices in her life thus far. But something tells me getting pregnant at such a young age and rebelling wasn't what put Amber over the edge -- it was all the fame and recognition that came as a result of Teen Mom.

Even though a lot of fans claim the show doesn't glamorize teen pregnancy, plenty of young girls idolize the cast members for being in the spotlight and getting to showcase their lives on TV. And even though they've watched them all go through various struggles, it still doesn't change the fact that they are pretty much household names and have achieved a certain element of fame.
But maybe after seeing just how much of a negative effect taking on way too much at a young age had on Amber, more girls will think twice about what the consequences of their actions might be instead of falling victim to temptation and peer pressure. Maybe Amber's poor example will stop a few other teenagers from having an unhappy ending. I guess there really is a silver lining to every situation (even when it's kind of a train wreck).
Do you think Amber will ever get her act together?

She would have gotten in the same type of trouble even if she had never had a baby as a teen and participated in a reality show. Now she feels the only way to change her behavior is to be under strict supervision, it might give us a clue about her family life growing up ,not judging, buy maybe she was given , or she took, too much liberties at an age she was not ready to deal with the consequences. She acted terribly towards a lot of people, not just Gary, but specially bad towards herself.
If this is her last shot at sobriety and the hope for a clean healthy life, then so be it,
