When news spread yesterday that President Barack Obama didn't want his daughters watching Keeping Up With the Kardashians, I knew it was only a matter of time before we heard a response from the K-clan. And that time has finally come!
According to sources, the Kardashian family feels "completely blindsided" and "surprised" by the President's comments. Rightfully so, I say! Especially since they claim Obama himself told Khloe Kardashian that Keeping Up is a "great show" when she met him at the White House in 2010.
I think Obama has the wrong idea about the krew. Sure, the show portrays the girls as a bit over-the-top and outrageous at times, but there are definitely some solid life lessons amidst the drama. I really think Sasha and Malia Obama can learn a thing or two (or five!) from Kim and the gang. Bible. Here is what the Kardashians teach us:
1. Accept yourself: Khloe has expressed her insecurities about her body and weight. But instead of starving herself or developing an eating disorder, she embraces her curves. Thanks to Khloe, girls can learn to accept the way they look and have self confidence.
2. Learn from your mistakes: Nobody is perfect and everyone messes up at some point. We all know about the sex tape, but there's no need to even bring it up since Kim has replaced that negative thing about herself with so many positives. She's moved on and doesn't dwell on the past. This teaches young girls to learn from their mistakes and make the best out of unfortunate situations.
3. Be grateful and give back: Kim recently tweeted that in lieu of birthday gifts from her family this year, she's having them donate money to The Dream Foundation. Also, the girls have helped the homeless and victims of Hurricane Katrina on the show. Young kids can learn that although material things are nice, helping out the less fortunate can be the most rewarding gift of all (cheesy, but true!).
4. Family is important: Their father Robert Kardashian passed away in 2003, but the family continues to keep his memory alive. Their strong family unity is important and a great lesson to young kids dealing with grief.
5. Don't take yourself too seriously: Even though they live hectic lives with jam-packed schedules, they still maintain a lighthearted, carefree attitude. We can all afford to chill out once in a while. Life doesn't always have to be so serious, does it?
So there you have it, Mr. President. Maybe the Kardashians aren't running for office any time soon, but if you give them a chance, you can definitely learn a thing or two from them.

What the fu - Are you serious? There are plenty of places for girls to learn those lessons without also being exposed to the obscene materialism and harpish "stupid pretty girl" syndrome the Kardashians embrace - which, by the way, includes Khloe "embracing her curves" by schilling for Quick Trim, and her mother harping at her for gaining weight while trying to become pregnant.
The Kardashians are offensive to thinking people.
Ummm, what? Good for the oBAMA'S IF THEY WANT TO KEEP THEIR GIRLS FROM WORSHIPPING AT THE IDOL OF RAMPANT MATERIALISM. There are plenty of places to learn good life lessons than TV shows. perhaps he rather them READ instead.
Obama contradicting himself or outright lying? Happens on a daily basis.
There are better places and better people for his girls or any other girls to learn those lessons from. Hell, I learned most of those on my own. It's called LIFE.
He may be the President, but he's still a DAD. A PARENT. And as a parent myself, no way in hell would I want my young daughters watching the Kardashians.
He has the right to determine what he is and is not okay with his daughters watching on TV, and it is none of the rest of the world's business.
