Taylor Momsen Too Young for Vibrators?

taylor momsenYou guys, you are not going to BELIEVE this: Taylor Momsen was quoted in Disorder Magazine that she's "bored of men" and that her "best friend is her vibrator." OMG!!!

I know, right? Are you thinking what I'm thinking? Who the hell is Taylor Momsen?

It turns out Ms. Momsen stars on Gossip Girl, which I've only seen a few times, but my immediate thought was: Wait, people are freaking out because one of the actresses admits to using a vibrator? Isn't this the show with the poster tag-lines, "Every parent's nightmare," "A nasty piece of work," and "OMFG"?

Okay, so it also turns out Taylor Momsen is all of 17 and 2 days old.

Critics are condemning Taylor and her sex-toy practice, including a Dr. Bill Donohue from The Catholic League, who provided this colorful commentary:

"Our society was a much happier place when Annette Funicello pranced around as a ‘Mickey Mouse Mouseketeer,' and now we have Taylor Momsen prancing around with a dildo in hand."

My, that's a rather ... vivid image, Dr. Donohue. Just saying, it seems like you've got a pretty clear mental picture going on. What with all the prancing and all.

Dr. Scott Turansky of the National Center for Biblical Parenting also spoke out against the young actress with the following:

"Taylor Momsen is projecting a negative image that will result in failure in her life. Sadly, she is influencing other young women to follow in her steps."

All right, doctors, let's get ourselves under control here. I'm pretty sure one magazine quote alluding to masturbation from a young, reckless actress isn't going to result in society lying in ruins (dildos everywhere, batteries slowly grinding to a halt, etc.).

However, Taylor IS underage. Technically, she can't legally even buy a vibrator, never mind the part about being, like, sooooo bored by men.

What do you guys think? Are her statements simply provocative words designed to stir up controversy (and attention for her aspiring rock career) -- or is this a case of yet another out-of-control minor who's heading down a bad path?

The Funicello reference is ironic considering how many guys of a certain age will admit to having wacked off to her picture.

Honestly? I'd much prefer my 17-year-old was using a vibrator than sleeping around. A vibrator can't give you chlamydia. It can't get you pregnant.

Let's stop pretending kids aren't sexual beings. They're still human.

I've never understood why religious leaders preach against masturbation. Seems to me, if you want your youth to be celibate, you'd be FOR masturbation.

Wait. You have to be of a certain age to buy a vibrator? Really?

No one blink an eye if that Taylor guy from the Twilight books said something about jerking off. In fact, it would be weird if a 17 year old guy claimed he didn't masturbate. People aren't upset because she's young. People are upset because women aren't supposed to like sex.

*gasp!* I'm a bit old fashioned I guess.....for one she really shouldn't be speaking about this....good point about the STDs perhaps she did say it out of shock factor.

So now people don't masturbate before they're old enough to buy vibrators?

And @Keli, I don't think so.  I know you have to be 18 to go into porn shops or buy porn, but Spencers spells vibrators.  So I dunno.

Lokismama, you still need a 18 yr old to purchase it from spencers.. unfortunantly, there is no way to check ID's of online purchases, as long as its a valid credit card...

And I would much rather my daughter had a vibrator than having sex, when she is a teen!! but, since she is 3 now, im not to worried about it lol

I agree, I would rather my daughter use a vibrator.....I just wouldn't want the reason she is using it to be b/c she is bored with men.

I find it interesting that the two people quoted as having condemned her are men.  What a laugh.  Because those men know exactly what it's like to be a teenage girl, right?

@Bananaappliepie, thanks.  I wasn't sure, never bought one from spencers.  I didn't buy my first vibratior til I was 18 and by then I was old enough to go to the porn shop.  They had a better selection than Spencer's anyway.
