Out of the billion funny autocorrect fails floating around the Internet, my favorites are the ones between someone and their mom or dad. I don't know, there's just an extra awesome element of humor going on with those, especially when the parents get all worked up over the communication gone wrong.
Well, if you've ever laughed at the unintentional hilarity of an accidental text between a kid and their parents, you've GOT to see this diabolical prank comedian Nathan Fielder asked his Twitter followers to take part in. Not only did he get plenty of folks who were willing to scare the living bejesus out of their folks in the name of a joke ... they shared screenshots of the amazing results.
Here's the challenge Fielder posted to his 37,000 Twitter followers:
Experiment: text your parents ‘got 2 grams for $40′ then right after ‘Sorry ignore that txt. Not for you’ Then tweet pic of their response.
Now, personally I would have been WAY too terrified to try this back in the day, but lots of people ran with the prank. Here's a sampling of their parents' responses:
Oh, god, I can't decide which one is my favorite. The mom who chides her son that he needs all the lung tissue he can get? "Mama Bear" who says he's getting ripped off? The sweet, ditzy mom who asks if she should put more money into Daniel's account?
I do feel kind of sorry for all the parents who presumably endured a few minutes of sheer heart-hammering worry before their kid let them know if was a joke (and I'm really not sure teasing the "FUCK YOU BRIAN" mom was a great idea) ... but their loss is our Internet-entertainment gain.
Would you have ever sent a prank text like this to your parents?
