If it were up to everybody's favorite social network -- yes, Facebook -- President Obama would mop the floor with Mitt Romney come November and retain his position as the President of the United States. Boom, sucka. Don't let the door hit you on the way out, Mittens!
Forbes recently made the realization that (at the time) Obama's official Facebook page has 28.5 million fans, while Romney's has a measly 6.6 million -- haha, burnt again, Mitt! And then a company called Compass Labs expounded upon this discovery, breaking down what an Obama fan "likes" exactly, what a Romney fan "likes", and where the two meet in the middle. Hint: both conservatives and liberals are Bradley Cooper fans. Weird.
Apparently, Obama fans are video gamers, meditators, and jigsaw-puzzle enthusiasts -- respectively. And they also enjoy the movies The Blind Side and Fast and Furious. Romney-ites are more partial to Atlas Shrugged, 17 Miracles, and The Sound of Music. And they also appear to be older, quilters, gun enthusiasts, churchgoers, and Fox News watchers. However, the two groups meet in the middle via their love for Target, The Hangover, and Family Guy.

The one edge Romney fans seem to have over Obama fans, though, is they apparently are more "engaged" than their more liberal counterparts on Facebook. They seem to share, comment, and "like" more on certain political subjects. So, there's that.
Is this research at all indicative of whose regime will reign supreme come November? Hard to say. I mean, I don't think it's crazy to surmise that the younger, more tech-obsessed generation skews a bit to the left, correct? So, it's no surprise that Obama is "ahead" in such a medium? On the other hand, though, aren't pretty much all people on Facebook these days -- no matter what their demographic?
Guess we'll just have to wait a few more months to find out ... until then, what do you say we all just play FarmVille together?
Do you think this research is an indication of who will win the 2012 election?

Well it's obvious the person writing this article is a liberal.
I am a gun toting, loud mouthed libertarian, and don't like EITHER of the candidates for pres. but I will say that I agree with the presumtion that a lot of the people who "like" the Obama page are underage, and only "like" the page because they think he's "cool" or because their parents don't like him. I would love to see Ron Paul beat them both as a write-in!
wow doesnt she sound grown up,not
I'm not a Mitt fan per say, but I won't vote for Obama. I have both of them on my Facebook, because I believe in voting with honest knowledge about both candidates. I'm a republican, but I don't watch Fox news, for the same reason I don't watch MSNBC, because the news wants to tell you which way to lean. Educate yourself on the real issues, and vote on who's issues and values line up with yours. Since Obama has no values, they don't line up with mine. I don't vote for someone because he is cool, and since Im not racist, I don't vote for someone based on their skin color. So give me another reason that I should vote for him, because I have been searching for a good one for the last 4 years.
Not surprised that BOs FB page has that many "fans" because most CONSERVATIVES get BANNED from FB for posting conservative views. So not surprising at all.
lol, conservatives are quiet! That was funny. I see way more rants from republican/conservatives than anyone else! I personally think Mitt Romney is a joke. Obama isn't necessarily the best vote either but I'd rather vote for Obama than Romney. Either way... when the next election pops up, everyone will be ranting about what a shitty president we have no matter which one is in office! No one liked Bush, so we voted in Obama. Now everyone is whining. Obama won by a landslide so apparently he was America's choice =P
Polling is a science and Facebook is very unlikely to be a representative sample of likely voters. So, neither side, especially all the Romney apologists who've offered their two cents worth here, should read too much into our president's FB advantage. The response to this article has proven, however, that some folks will use almost any excuse to insult and demean people who don't agree with their politics. Consider that what you say here may reflect more about you than it does the people about which you so freely make sweeping generalizations.
