The U.S. Women's Gymnastics Team Are the Cool Girls on Twitter

by Nicole Fabian-Weber on August 2, 2012 at 1:21 PM

us gymnastics teamThey're calling it the Twitter Olympics this year. And with good reason, the 2012 Summer Games have overtook the Twitterverse. Athletes are tweeting to celebrities. Celebrities are tweeting to athletes. Athletes are getting kicked out the games for tweeting. Oh, and President Barack Obama has even gotten himself into the mix, too. It's actually pretty cool.

But hands down the coolest thing so far about this year's Olympics, and the role Twitter has played in them, is all the major celebrities who tweeted at the U.S. women's gymnastics team after they brought home the gold. Seriously, this thing reads like a who's who at the Chateau Marmont.

Okay, so here's a quick list of some of the people who have tweeted at Jordyn Wieber, Aly Raisman, McKayla Maroney, Gabrielle Douglas, and Kyla Ross:

Lady Gaga

Kim Kardashian

Taylor Swift

Um, Barack Obama!

Justin Bieber

P!nk

Giuliana Rancic

Oprah Winfrey!

Snooki

Pretty amazing, huh? Not that these ladies need validation from Snooki, but if it weren't for Twitter, the Fab 5 wouldn't have gotten "congrats" from half these people. Very cool.

You know, the Internet can be a nasty place a lot of the time, but once in a while, it's a-okay.

How cool is it that all these famous people tweeted at the U.S. gymnastics team?

And another jibe at Snooki. A lot of young women like her, you know, and whether you like it or not, she IS famous. Did you seriously just add her name to the list to make fun of her again?
