Ever since Facebook became the biggest time-suck in our lives, we've had to contend with annoying posts from our Facebook friends. But now that the social network has decided to go and get more "visual" with Timeline profiles, it feels like we have to contend with a whole new wave of different -- and yet still ridiculously irritating! -- types of updates.
Here, some of the latest, most annoying Facebook habits you may not even realize you're engaging in, but that are probably, most definitely driving your friends to remove you from their News Feeds ...
- Posting someecards. Yes, we get it, there's an old-fashioned drawing with a snarky joke. But e-cards were meant for email, not Facebook, and this meme is getting as old as the pictures themselves!
- Re-posting a photo or status update about cancer or other heartbreaking cause that says you know only a few friends are selfless enough to "like" or re-post it. Guilting others into showing they care about the cause with a status update is never the way to go.
- Using these new apps to post links to the articles you've read on your behalf. Do we really need to know do you really want people to know you just read a story about Justin Bieber?
- Posting pictures of quotes. They're more fun to look at than actually typing out that quote, but you know where they really belong? Image-based Pinterest! Not clogging up half the screen real estate in your friends' News Feed.
- Posting endless photos of the cake/cupcakes/pizzas/other food you make. A.) Stick to Pinterest, and B.) Sorry, you're no Martha Stewart.
- Posting angry posts about Facebook invading your privacy or doing something else you can't stand ... on Facebook. Obviously, you're not that irate about the latest update, because you're not exactly ranting and raving on Google+! (Now warning your Facebook friends about a privacy glitch and offering a fix is a whole different thing ...)
- Using the invite feature to invite every single one of your friends on your list to a local event -- just in case. Sure, Sally in Saskatchewan might put in an order for your Lia Sophia party, but ... it's doubtful.
- Writing letters to inanimate objects or people you don't know. "Dear Weatherman, Please stop depressing me with all these awful [insert meteorological complaint here aka too hot, too humid, too stormy, too gloomy] forecasts. Love, Bob" No, YOU stop.
- Using hashtags in your status updates. #LeaveItonTwitter.
- Checking in everywhere you go. Okay, okay, we get it, you like your gym and the Starbucks down the street!
Let's face it -- we've all been guilty of one or a few of these at one time or another. Sometimes, you can't even help it, and you can't please everyone. But it never hurts to know -- and be able to laugh at -- our own Facebook faux pas.
Are you guilty of any of these? Any other new Facebook faux pas that are equally or even more annoying to you?

Every so often, I am guilty of #8. And I think I've done #9 a couple times...the thing I find most annoying is when FB posts things on my behalf, like reading articles, pins from pinterest, etc. I try to block as many of those apps as possible.
I am not, but agree that most of them are annoying. Oh wait, I have done the quote one but I don't do it often.
I don't mind the hashtags since so many people use an app that updates their facebook & twitter status at the same time, but all the others are spot on!
I immediately skip over the posts that give me 'instructions" (ie: click like if you agree.... um, Duh!)
I completely agree with every point you listed, even though I've been guilty of one or two from time to time.
I have one friend that re-posts EVERYone else's posts.....annoying!!! I guess he doesn't have an original thought of his own.
Is it just me, or is Google+ kinda boring? I'm not sure what to do on there, other than use it for business reasons. It doesn't seem like many people even use it.
As far as facebook goes...seems like every week there is a new list of fb peeves. :)
I have a friend who, each night, will post between 15-20 religious pictures. It completely floods my feed, and drives me crazy. Unfortunately, there are other things that she posts that are family-related, or clever, and are worthwhile. And she is a friend, so I'm not ready to block her yet. It's that terrible dilemma - to block or not to block. I guess the religion hasn't gotten THAT annoying... yet. It's getting close, though.
You tubes one after the other bother me as well as the things already mentioned. I have one "friend" who I can tell must get depressed. He was in the Vietnam War and he posts songs constantly but I don't have the heart to block him so I just hide them as I see them. *sigh*
I definitely do #8 and I will occasionally do #9 when I post to Twitter and Facebook simultaneously. I don't do #10 because 1) I can barely remember to check in on FourSquare, but also 2) DH is worried that it's a safety issue to have everyone know where I am all the time. Either they'll come get me or they'll know I'm not home and try to rob us.
I think the author of this should just delete their facebook...this article is so anger filled it is ridiculous. I love the someecards and pinterest photos that my friends post. And I like to cook so I actually like looking at the meals my friends make. If everyone on FB stopped doing all the things you mentioned, FB would be a boring place. Sorry, but I find the posts where moms post 20 pics of their kids doing "cute" things every 15 minutes more irritating than any of the things you mentioned.
