Everyone has their own opinions about which statuses are the MOST annoying on Facebook. Sure, you may have thought that the ones from your former kindergarten BFF about her doomed relationship were god awful, but then there's also those ramblings from your third cousin twice removed about her seventh kid that give the BFF a run for her money.
I'm here to tell you there's one type of status floating around right now that annoys me more than ANY other. It's the fake "privacy notice." You know which one I'm talking about, don'tcha? The one that tells you that every single thing you post on the site now, you know -- since it's officially a publicly traded company -- is public property?
Well let me tell you something amigas. WRONG. You can take a breath now. Check out the viral false privacy "notice" here:
Let's take a look -- shall we?
For those of you who do not understand the reasoning behind this posting, Facebook is now a publicly traded entity. Unless you state otherwise, anyone can infringe on your right to privacy once you post to this site. It is recommended that you and other members post a similar notice as this, or you may copy and paste this version. If you do not post such a statement once, then you are indirectly allowing public use of items such as your photos and the information contained in your status updates.

You are hereby notified that you are strictly prohibited from disclosing, copying, distributing, disseminating, or taking any other action against me with regard to this profile and the contents herein. The foregoing prohibitions also apply to your employee , agent , student or any personnel under your direction or control.

To the untrained eye, that post looks pretty legit. It wasn't until the third or fourth time I saw it on the site that I actually read the whole thing myself. While all those other nagging "modest brag" statuses can be uber annoying, this one just takes the cake for me. Mostly because this status in particular makes users like you and me question our personal activity on Facebook. Facebook is supposed to be a leisurely thing, not a scary one.
Like I said, take comfort in knowing that this is NOT true. I can't help but wonder, who SERIOUSLY takes the time to come up with these things? It's not like any bragging rights come with the glory of knowing your fake status is catching on. Sigh. Oohhhh scammers, I'll never understand you.

The ones that people don't bother to research before posting. For example, they post a picture of a child or animal that supposedly needs help but it's all a hoax, which you could figure out easily if you just entered the name in a search engine.
Constant religious posts that fill up my entire feed. I get it. You and Jesus are tight. Good for you. Say a prayer for me, if you happen to think of it. But keep your proselytizing to yourself, please.
To me the worst are the ones that try to shame you into sharing... 5 mins ago one came up, it was slightly more subtle than the usual " I know 99% of my friends won't repost" bull shhhhh... this one was a pic that said "if you love jesus click share, if not keep scrolling" as if my love for Jesus has anything to do with facebook
I agree Kym. My mom calls it "spiritual hijacking". I don't forward texts, emails or statuses unless it really moves me or has been vetted out by snopes.com. Jesus knows I love Him, even through all of my faults and without prompting from this spam!
I love your mom Snarky! I'm going to use that phrase!
