ipad The day you’ve been waiting for has finally arrived. Maybe. In a few short hours we’ll know for sure if an iPad 3 is being released today. Are you amped? Are you excited? I’m not.

Okay, fine, an iPad 3 would be pretty cool, but the Apple rumor I’m really hoping is true is all this talk I’ve been hearing of an iPad Mini. Yes, a cute, compact, mini iPad.

See, I already have an iPad (1), and I love it and it's great, etc. etc. etc. to the end of time, but, I'm not gonna lie, when my husband and I are both reading in bed at night, I kinda wish I was the one with the Kindle. It's so much less ... computer-like.

iPad Mini rumors are saying that the display would be 7.1 inches, which is akin to Amazon’s Kindle Fire and Barnes & Noble’s Nook Tablet. It's also a display size that Steve Jobs once said Apple would never dabble in. Jobs stated: "One naturally thinks that a 7-inch screen would offer 70 percent of the benefits of a 10-inch screen. Unfortunately, this is far from the truth. The reason we won’t make a 7-inch tablet isn’t because we don’t want to hit a lower price point, it’s because we think the screen is too small to express the software."

Hmm ... be that as it may, I still would love to see an iPad Mini. Like I said, the current size of the iPad just makes it a little awkward to lay down and read -- and it totally feels more like you're reading a "gadget" than a book. You can't really curl up with the current iPad. But, yes, it still is very cool -- and I'm sure the iPad 3 will be even cooler.
