facebookAs impossible -- and unfortunately, possible -- as it is to wrap your head around this -- yet another murder was allegedly committed because of a Facebook defriending. This time around, it's two Tennessee men who are at the center of the scandal. One of the men, Marvin Potter, who's been charged with first-degree murder, reportedly was so enraged that a couple defriended his 30-year-old daughter that he and another man went over to said couple's house and shot them, leaving their 8-month-old baby unharmed.

I know it'll never happen, but I think we're reaching the point where a screening process needs to be in order for Facebook. 'Cause it's not the site that's making people do crazy things, it's unstable people doing crazy things because they can't handle the site. Sure, getting unfriended is a blow to the self-esteem, but murdering over it?

Police describe the alleged motive behind this killing "senseless and stupid," and they couldn't be more right. Like I said, it sucks if you're ever defriended, but really your only (sane) choice is to get over it and move on. I've been defriended before, and while I was hurt, I didn't resort to violence. I didn't harm anyone. I was annoyed for five minutes and that was that. No harm, no foul. And, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this is what most people do when in in this situation.

Because of Facebook -- well, not because of Facebook, but because of someone's inability to handle Facebook -- a poor, little girl is going to have to grow up without her parents. If that's not senseless and stupid then I don't know what is.
