Following comedians on Twitter literally helps me get through the day. It's so necessary to have a little comedic interlude to help relieve unneeded stress. Naturally, I couldn't help but chuckle when I noticed that one of my favorites, Suburgatory star Ana Gasteyer, started tweeting about her "personal quest for validation" on the popular social website. Seems that she asked Twitter to verify her account (in other words, put an official check mark on the top of her page to prove she's actually who she claims to be), and they have yet to do so.
Come on Twitter! Don't you know you're dealing with one of the women behind the famous Saturday Night Live "Schweddy Balls" skit?! You've verified so many less cool people (cough, Ke$ha, cough) and even some fakes, too!
It's so silly if you think about it. The head honchos over at Twitter have totally verified loads of fake accounts before. Take the impersonator for Rupert Murdoch's wife Wendi, for example, who had their account verified "by accident" over New Year's weekend. It wasn't even the real Wendi, and she got verified with the simple press of a button!
Seeing that Ana is so enthusiastic about becoming "official," I can't help but wonder what's taking so long, you know? What else do the brains behind Twitter do all day besides verify celebs, eh? Obviously, they're not tweeting. In fact, Twitter hasn't actually tweeted in days!
It's totally clear that Ana's, well, Ana. She's posted loads of photos of her with her Suburgatory co-stars (some of which poke fun at her unverified status), and has even created her own hashtag, #verifyanagasteyer, to rally her thousands of followers behind her cause.
Maybe all the Twitter staff needs to do is check out Ana in her prime in the classic "Schweddy Balls" skit. Then they'll totally have to give her the green light!
