Most of us are so damn busy, especially around the holiday season, that buying pre-printed holiday gift wrap -- or better yet, a gift BAG! -- seems to be the easiest solution to making our gifts look pretty and presentable for giving. But sometimes just a little extra "pop!" of personalization can make all the difference, and it doesn't have to cost you an arm and a leg -- in money or time. Tech-savvy folks and shutterbugs, listen up, cause this one's for you ... You can put all those photo albums on your computer to awesome use by making DIY photo wrapping paper!
In an instant -- okay, maybe a bit more than that, but it doesn't take that long at all -- you can wrap presents in pics of your adorable dog, your kiddo on a sled, or that artsy shot you took of your stockings hung by the fire. Ah! What a cool idea, right?
All you need is ...
- Photos to print 8.5" x 11" or larger
- Your printer
- Ribbons/bows (optional, of course)
No fancy software required! (Although you can feel free to PhotoShop the pic you're using to your heart's content, if that's your cup of tea.) All you have to do is print the pics you want on thin copy paper, measure the gift you're wrapping to make sure you have enough paper to cover the whole box/object (or you can print multiples of the same image to tile or overlap on bigger packages), then wrap! So easy, and ingenious.
I mean, I love sharing pics on Facebook and Snapfish and Twitpic as much as the next person, but this brings "photo sharing" to a whole new level, you know? Plus, why shouldn't our pics get real world action like this? I'd personally be super-proud to give and elated to receive a gift wrapped this way. Can't wait to try it out!
