Mardi Gras 2011 Apps Will Bring Party to You

mardi gras appGet out your beads and start stuffing your face with king cake, Fat Tuesday 2011 is here. If you haven't booked your trip to Mardi Gras 2011, hop on Expedia and get your plane ticket down to New Orleans for the last day of the festival before the clock strikes midnight, and Ash Wednesday and Lent 2011 begin.

If you're able to make the last-minute journey, a) that is very impressive and spontaneous of you and I'd like to shake your hand and b) you'll have all the guidance you'll need. Apple and Android wouldn't let you wonder aimlessly around NOLA nor the parade, so they've developed some Mardi Gras apps to help you along the way. And if you can't make the trip, these apps will bring the party to you.

There are plenty of Mardi Gras apps out there (I counted over 10), but we'll focus on the best and the brightest, and the ones you can have fun with while sitting on your couch in the cold northeast, wishing you were having a beer and funnel cake in warm Louisiana.

First up there's "Mardi Gras for Children." It has games and puzzles for the young ones in your life that aren't yet old enough to understand that this festival is more about getting drunk and exposed breasts than anything else. They can solve Mardi Gras-themed puzzles and feel a part of the action.

The Mardi Gras!!! app is your ticket to the parade without having to leave your house. It's a compilation of all the best photos taken in and around the Nawlins festivities, and features slideshow after slideshow of crazy people in artful masks and extravagant costumes.

The Mardi Gras Party & Parade Guide is great for those in the action, and those who want to be. It has everything you need to know -- parade routes, party whereabouts, schedule of events -- and really cool stuff like the availability to download live Mardi Gras music and connect with friends on your Mardi Gras fan wall. In 2010, this app was the highest rated by users.

Keeping it simple is the Mardi Gras Cake! app. If you don't feel like baking your own king cake, just download this sucker and play along with your friends.

So many apps, so little time.

Will you download any Mardi Gras apps to get you in the spirit of things?
