Do you update your Facebook status often? If so, why? You may not, consciously, know that answer off the top of your head, but according to a new study, the reason may be because it makes you feel less lonely. Yep, even if no one comments or "likes" your status, apparently writing something on Facebook -- specifically, an update -- eliminates feelings of loneliness in users. And while this finding is certainly interesting, I really can't say I'm surprised.

Self-driving cars cannot get here fast enough. Well, at least in my world. Some days I feel like I spend hours in the car -- carting kids around, running errands, making appointments, etc. That’s a lot of time spent sitting and not doing a whole lot of anything except watching the road and singing along badly to Adele until your two small children beg you to stop because their ears hurt.

That’s time that could be spent doing something productive, or even just fun. Heck, if cars could drive themselves, you could theoretically wave goodbye to your kids from your driveway as they head off to school. Although that idea freaks me out, because I love technology, but I love my kids more and sometimes computers glitch.

The first time I babysat my niece, I think I checked her about every five minutes to make sure she was still breathing. I was absolutely paranoid something horrible would happen the first time I was alone with her. I was terrified of SIDS. Nothing did go wrong, thankfully, but a new gadget that's designed to give parents more peace of mind while babies sleep might have helped.

The Snuza Hero is a device that clips onto your sleeping baby's diaper, and uses a motion detector to constantly monitor your baby's movement. What a great idea!

When I was a kid, I had a nonsexual girl crush on Judy Blume. I had a big ol’ poster of Michael Jackson next to my bed—the one of him with the bow tie, yellow sweater, and beautiful, fantastic smile—but if I could’ve blown up an equally large picture of Judy Blume and plastered it next to him, I would’ve drifted off to sleep every night smack dab in idol heaven. I had all of her books: Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret, Just as Long as We’re Together, Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing, the whole collection. There was nothing like finding a little space for myself and flipping the crisp pages, giggling and gasping and otherwise reacting to the literary magic that sparkled across her pages. She and Shel Silverstein were friends in my head. Michael was just my boo.

It's Thanksgiving! Hooray for thankfulness, gorging on food, spending time with loved ones, and gazing fondly at your well-behaved children as they engage in quiet, polite conversation while sitting peacefully and -- what's that? Your kids have been feral monsters all morning and you're about to cram them in a gravy boat if they don't stop galloping back and forth in front of the football game? Ah, you've come to the right place, then. If you're looking for a little child-related distraction in the form of mobile gameplay, I've got some fantastic suggestions for you.

Deciding whether to be Facebook friends with your colleagues is a tricky business, and it's even trickier when that friend request comes from your boss. Should you friend your boss on Facebook? Probably not.

Apparently whether your boss is a man or a woman -- and how much information they share about themselves -- impacts your Facebook-friending decision, new research shows. Female bosses who share a lot are more likely to be friended. Male bosses? Not so much.

Being friends with grandma on Facebook isn't uncool anymore. In fact, nearly 80 percent of teens surveyed recently said they were helping their parents and grandparents get on Facebook and other social networks so that they could get connected.

It's a refreshing trend and using Facebook to keep families connected it a great idea, and teens helping grandparents set up accounts on social networks -- and showing them how to use them -- can bridge the generation gap and help grandparents and teens stay connected. They get to spend time together during the initial setup, and then they can post, tweet or comment to each other no matter where they are.

Have you ever listened to a rap song and thought, Yo, I be diggin' on this vibe but I got no idea what the brotha mean by it? Come on, you know that's exactly what you think. Rap lyrics are some of the most looked up things on the Internet. In fact, one of the most popular sites is Rap Genius, sort of a rap lyric translator system that gets up to 500,000 views a day. A big time tech firm that also invested in Twitter has just put $15 million in this site created by three bored college students. Hm, sounds like the boyz might need a fresh translation of Lil Wayne's "Cash Money Millionaires."

Technology gets a bad rap when it comes to bullying. Facebook is seen as a place where people go to publicly hurt one another. And don't even get me started on sexting.

All you have to do is think of some of the major cases of bullying -- Tyler Clementi's suicide, Karen Klein's bus bullying, and Phoebe Prince's suicide -- to realize so many of them started and ended with Facebook or YouTube or texting. But technology didn't invent the bullying. Kids have been doing that for ages. And in the same way technology has aided and abetted these bullies, it has also stopped them. Crazy. But true.

Consider the story about Whitney Kropp, the high school "nerd" who was voted into the homecoming court as a joke. It's the kind of story that just pulls at your heart and makes it ache. But it also has a happy ending.
