17-Year-Old Pro Golfer Honors Injured Marine by Taking Him to Her Prom (VIDEO)

Lexi Thompson, an LPGA teen sensation from Coral Springs, Florida, hasn't had the most typical teenage experience growing up. She had to be home-schooled due to her insanely busy schedule and she has to miss graduation because she'll be out on tour. So it's great she'll get a little slice of "normal" teenage life by being able to go to her prom.

But what makes this story even sweeter is that she chose her date by creating a contest to honor Wounded Warriors, which provides services to injured servicemen and women. She first thought to ask another athlete or actor, but instead gave an all-expenses-paid weekend of fun to Lance Corporal Mark Scott, a Marine active reservist and Purple Heart recipient from Naperville, Illinois.

From going go-kart racing to appearing on "Fox and Friends" to taking a trip to the gun range then the golf course, it sounds like a weekend both of them will never forget!

Claire Lomas
Claire Lomas
Now here's a story that'll make you feel supremely guilty about how lazy you are when it comes to any form of long-distance running (or maybe that's just me?). Claire Lomas, 32, finished the London Marathon in a bionic suit, 16 days after she first started. Oh, and she is paralyzed from the chest down.

She walked in the suit two miles a day to complete the 26.2-mile race. Her husband, Dan, walked behind her during the whole thing, and her parents and 1-year-old daughter also joined her through most of her journey. Watching Claire cross the finish line has seriously inspired me to dust off my running shoes. I act like I'm having a wheezing heart attack after going two miles on two good legs.

She has made history too -- she became the first person to complete a marathon using a bionic ReWalk suit. Wow, what an inspiring woman! Talk about someone who defied all the odds and made her dream a reality.

Kate Upton's Sexy Baseball Card Will Have Collectors Drooling

kate uptonWell, the treasured pastime of collecting baseball cards & trading them with friends just got a whole lot less innocent, considering sexy Sports Illustrated model Kate Upton is going to be pictured on her very own Topps rookie card.

The 19-year-old blonde bombshell was selected along with a handful of other celebs to be part of the Allen & Ginters World Champion Set, which will contain 350 cards all together. Gee -- I wonder how many teenage boys will be rushing out to purchase this particular set when it comes out? (Probably more than a few.)

Hearing Caroline Wozniacki's New Song Is Like Being Stabbed to Death by a Paperclip (VIDEO)

Caroline Wozniacki Oxygen
Caroline Wozniacki
As if we needed more proof that anyone can make a crappy music video nowadays? Caroline Wozniacki, a Danish professional tennis player, despite being the second highest earning female athlete in the world according to Forbes in 2011, has come out with such a terrible music video, you're gonna be left wondering about the future of humanity after watching it.

Okay, so Caroline has never won a Grand Slam, but it's safe to say her chances of winning anything for her artistic/singing talent are even smaller. Her video "Oxygen" is an awkward montage of her signing autographs and singing robotically in a studio -- yet facing away from the microphone -- and flirting with some dude and playing with some kids. And there's a dog. Please just watch it. It'll make you feel better about your life choices, I guarantee it.

Jessica Dorrell Stole Her Job From Smarter Women

Posted by Adriana Velez
on Apr 16, 2012 at 5:47 PM

pink footballThe Bobby Petrino/Jessica Dorrell sh**storm of a story has so many different shades of wrong, it's a veritable rainbow of foolishness. There's the ill-fated motorcycle ride that started it all (or should we say ended?), the way Jessica ruined her own wedding, and dear God no, even naked pictures of Bobby Petrino.

But it's not just Jessica, Bobby, and their (sigh, for lack of a better word) loved ones who got hurt in this train wreck. When Jessica applied for that job as Arkansas University's head of recruiting for football -- and when Bobby Petrino pushed to hire her on the same freakin' day of her interview -- all women hoping to break into college football took a giant step backwards.

Super Tall Woman Basketball Player Makes Amazing Monster Dunk (VIDEO)

Brittney Griner dunkI'll be the first to admit: I'm not the biggest fan of women's basketball. But when headlines came out celebrating Brittney Griner's dunk, helping propel top-seeded Baylor to a 76-57 win over #9 Florida, I had to find out more. I had no idea that a woman dunking in an NCAA game was a big deal.

But apparently it is! Griner, who's 6'8"(!), was only the second woman in NCAA tournament game history to make a dunk. And as her coach Kim Mulkey said, "That wasn't just a barely-over-the-rim type of dunk. That was a monster dunk."

Whoa. Sounds pretty badass to me. I'm sure you, like me, want to see this one for yourself!

Sexy One-Armed Pole Dancer Stuns Audiences With Strength (VIDEO)

one-armed pole dancerApparently there's pole dancing, and then there's ... pole dancing. Meaning there's the kind of thing you'd expect to find at a place called Bada Bing's and then there's ... the kind of thing you find at the International Pole Championship. The latter is considered "pole art," and it's both aesthetically and athletically spectacular

Especially when Deborah Roach is on the pole. Which is why the Australian won first place in her division at last week's Championship. Oh, did I mention she only has one arm?

Female Kicker Deserves a Spot on All-Male College Football Team (VIDEO)

mo isom goal'Bout dang time we heard a good girl power story, what with all the ridiculous misogynist ranting in the news lately: 6-foot-tall LSU goalie Mo Isom (Mo is short for Mary Morlan) is such an amazing kicker that Tigers football coach Les Miles is giving her a much-coveted tryout to kick for his team in the fall.

That's right, the football team. The completely male football team.

You go, Mo!

It gets even better. Because after everything Mo Isom has been through, it's a miracle she's a successful athlete at all -- never mind a successful female athlete on the verge of busting into a male-centric sport.

danica patrickThe Daytona 500 is just under two hours away and the world is waiting. The anticipation is normally high around this race but today most everyone is talking about Danica Patrick ... for a whole variety of reasons. The most important, I think, is that she is breaking ground in her sport. She is only the third woman to ever compete in the Daytona 500 and it's awesome that she's representing.

Here's what you need to know to get your drive on ...

  • The race will be on FOX and, although their programming starts at noon, the race doesn't begin until 1pm EST.

Danica Patrick Even Knows How to Crash in Style

Posted by Jacqueline Burt
on Feb 24, 2012 at 6:39 PM

danica patrickWhy is Danica Patrick a racing icon? Because the girl doesn't just know how to drive a fast car, she knows how to wreck a fast car -- the right way. And hey, like Steven Tyler says, you've got to lose to know how to win.

Okay, maybe that was a little bit of a stretch. For real though, Patrick could have ended up seriously injured when she crashed yesterday on the last lap of the NASCAR Gatorade Duel at Daytona International Speedway. Luckily, Patrick knew exactly what to do. It's part of her job.

As she put it:

"We are not average people," she said. "We are not average drivers on the road. I'm not saying we crash for a living, but it is part of racing for a living. I feel fine. I feel good. I'm ready to go."

So just for the record, she meant to take her hands off the steering wheel as her car skidded across the track ...
