I've always seen champion tennis player Serena Williams as a symbol of powerful womanhood. That's why I was so disappointed by the remarks she made about the Steubenville rape in a recent Rolling Stone interview. It kind of sounded like Serena was blaming the Steubenville rape victim for putting herself in a dangerous situation -- even though Serena prefaces her comments with "I'm not blaming the girl ..." As journalist Jamil Smith said via Twitter, "if 'I'm not blaming the girl, but' exits your mouth, stop there. There is no 'but.'" Here's what Serena said.

Jennifer Capriati has been one of the most memorable and talented tennis players in recent history. Her life off the court, however, has not been nearly as winning. From arrests for shoplifting and possession of marijuana to dealing with substance abuse problems, her personal life has been bumpy at best over the years. Now, she's hit another big bump after being charged with misdemeanor battery and stalking charges.

The charges stem from an incident that allegedly happened on Valentine's Day at a gym in North Palm Beach, Florida. According to the Associated Press, Capriati approached her ex-boyfriend, Ivan Brannan, who was working out there. When he tried to escape from her into the locker room, she jumped in front of him and punched him in the chest.

That was allegedly just the culmination of a whole slew of events that started after they broke up in February 2012.

I'll admit, I'm pretty torn on this whole "tennis grunting" controversy. I played tennis for an entire week of hell so I honestly couldn't tell you if grunting that loudly is required to hit the ball with such velocity. Either way, listening to it can either be rather entertaining or super distracting. Now the whole grunting debacle is making the news yet again. Maria Sharapova is throwing in her support of a ban for women's tennis -- even though her screams have been measured at more than 101 decibels, which is comparable to a chain saw.

"Bottom line is the right answer has been taken by the tour," Sharapova told Reuters in response to the ban, which would require umpires to have hand-held devices that can measure the noise on the court. This all sounds pretty insane and ridiculous to me, but apparently fans and other competitors have complained enough for this to be an actual necessary thing.

When I'm watching tennis matches, sometimes I feel kind of badly for the ball boys (I guess we should start calling them ball people?). All that running back and forth, trying not to be a nuisance, having better hand-eye coordination than I could ever dream of having. Though the views they have of the match might be worth the sweat. But there's one ball boy in particular at the US Open who's become quite an inspiration: Ryan McIntosh, a 23-year-old Army veteran from Texas.

What makes Ryan stand out from the other ball boys/people? He's running around on that court on one leg.

The story of this Colorado high school athlete will certainly make you count all your blessings -- and perhaps become intrigued enough to check him out at his next US Open match.

Might as well make it official: 25-year-old Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic is one awesome dude. The second seeded player was practicing for the U.S. Open, and while the practice was mostly quiet and not all that enthralling, suddenly a young voice from the crowd pierced the silence:

    "Djokovic! Will you marry me?!"

Those in attendance burst out into laughter, and then Djokovic did the last thing I think anyone expected him to do. He stopped practicing, laughed, and headed to the stands to chat with the boy. Then, just as unexpectedly, he invited the young fan to serve a few tennis balls and finally gave him a big ol' hug.

Awwww. After this and watching Djokovic dancing with a lawn mower for the fans, I think I figured out who I'm cheering for at the Open now!

Serena Williams has made some questionable fashion choices over the years, but this little number, this outfit, wow. Serena's not only stepped up her tennis game, but her style game, as well. In a skin tight red dress by Victoria Beckham, Ms. Williams went on the Late Show With David Letterman and took Dave's breath away. How could you not think dayum when you look at her? That's a grand slam outfit if ever I saw one.

But before I go overboard here talking about how famazing Serena looks, let's pause for a second to observe her heels. Her $4,000 Christian Louboutin heels, to be exact.

The headlines read "Serena Williams Dominates Sharapova," "Serena Williams Storms to Singles Gold," "Serena Williams Easily Wins Gold Medal." Hello, career Gold Slam! You'd almost think Serena Williams was a hurricane or or a blockbuster action flick rather than a star tennis player. Like she blew into the court, picked up Maria Sharapova in a funnel cloud, and dropped her about 100 miles miles outside London.

But can a tornado dance like this? Just after winning Serena did a funny little victory dance -- not unlike the classic football endzone dance, but with her own spin, of course. Some say it's bad manners. Some say it's a "Crip Walk." Whaaaaat?

Jimmy Fallon's, er, Roger Federer's "tennis boner"Congratulations to Roger Federer on winning Wimbledon. Quite an accomplishment, wouldn't you say? But there is one thing far more awesome about the 30-year-old Swiss champion than his 800 career wins and the millions in his bank account.

    That would be his accent.

And it's something that Jimmy Fallon makes so hilarious in his newest "At the Bar With Roger Federer" episode. Federer, from what we know about the "real" him, seems to be kind of a quiet, mysterious guy. Fallon helps clear any of this up "at da bar" by showing us how Federer exercises, what he thinks of his opponent Andy Murray ("he plays so good with da crying and da playing"), seeing Pippa Middleton, and how he gets a "tennis boner" from reading Fifty Shades of Grey. Yup.

Now that Wimbledon is getting more and more nail-biting, with the huge pool of players being narrowed down to an honored few, it's certainly an exciting time in the world of tennis.

So what better way to celebrate all the goodness that is tennis than by showing off some of the hotties who have the athleticism, talent, grace, and vocal chords to make those loud sexual grunts to dominate on the court? I can't think of one, that's for sure. It's times like these when sports take such center stage that it's easy to become jealous of these folks' looks, fame, riches, and talent. Some genetic jackpot they have won!

From Rafael Nadal to Maria Sharapova to the Williams sisters, these players may be in or out at Wimbledon (or not played in the tournament at all), but they're always welcome on our television screens. Here are our favorite 10 tennis players who are fun to watch not only because of their athletic ability, but because they look so fantastic showing it off.

Listen up everyone, I have an exciting announcement: Serena Williams is officially a rapper. I know what you're thinking. Serena Tennis Williams? Diva racquet thrower? That's ridic -- oh wait, that's perfect!

All evidence to the contrary, Serena Williams does not love playing tennis. Oh she's still going to slam those forehands, but it looks like she's looking to diversify a bit, too. There's her new line of Sleep Sheets, which has nothing whatsoever to do with tennis unless tennis makes you really tired. But rapping -- that can be about anything, including tennis. Have a listen.
