Stand on your couches, chairs, or desks and put your hands together for Procter & Gamble because, Captain, my Captain, they deserve a gosh darn round of applause for their new commercial. Pegged to the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London, P&G is saluting all the moms out there who take their kids to soccer practice, or go to volleyball matches, or wait at gymnastic lessons; who do loads of laundry, who cook meal after meal, who are there in victory and in defeat. The tag line of the ad, "The hardest job in the world is the best job in the world. Thanks, Mom" rings true with every mama in the world. No matter what country you're from, mothers, and mothers of athletes, can relate to what it's like raising an active child.
Get out the tissues, the commercial is a real, bonafide tear-jerker.

Whew, that Ryan Seacrest -- he is one busy dude. Not only is he doing all of his American Idol hosting duties and unleashing pseudo-celebs like the Kardashians upon the world, it seems like his next big adventure will take place in London. Yep, he's going to be part of NBC's coverage of the Summer Olympics.
When watching the Olympics, sometimes it feels as if a majority of the opening ceremonies is an excuse for the host city and country to show off how amazeballs it is. I remember watching the Opening Ceremonies in Beijing on August 8, 2008. After being completely blown away, I'll admit my immediate reaction was: OMG. China is the coolest country everrrr.
The highly anticipated

There's really no other way to put it: Olympic gold medalist Lindsey Vonn is winning! The champion skier was three for three in the World Cup competition this past weekend, winning downhill races on both Friday and Saturday, as well as the Super-G (an Alpine skiing "speed" event) on Sunday. Totally awesome! She deserves to enjoy this moment.
One major perk of the 2012 Olympics being held in London? The neo-Camelot/royals for the 21st century --
In the mid-'90s, before O.J. Simpson and the "trial of the century," there was another scandal that rocked the sports world. In one of the most moronic sabotage attempts ever, trashy Tonya Harding had her ex-hubby and bodyguard hire a guy to attack her skating rival, Nancy Kerrigan, smashing her leg with a baton, with hopes of preventing her from skating in the 1994 Olympics. Thankfully, Kerrigan recovered and was able to score an Olympic silver medal, and Harding was charged with covering up the assault. That was all a long time ago, and you'd think it'd be water under the bridge. But it's not.
Oscar Pistorius, a South African runner who also goes by the name Blade Runner, just qualified to compete in the 2012 London Olympics. "Big whoop," you're thinking now, right? "I'm not a runner aficionado. Why should I care who's competing? Hell, it's still 2011!" Well, the reason you should care is because Pistorius also happens to be a double amputee. I see your interest is piqued now, friend.
Excuse the mixed sports metaphors, but the Olympic Games decision was starting to look an awful lot like a baseball game. South Korea had tried twice before to convince the International Olympic Committee (IOC) that they could host the games. They were about to strike out a third time on the bid to bring them home to Pyeongchang in 2018. Thank goodness those crafty Koreans have a secret weapon to help them win their bid.
