So many people have been eagerly awaiting the Belmont Stakes 2012 in the hopes of seeing I'll Have Another become the first Triple Crown winner in 34 years. But just when we were about to break out the fancy hors d'ouevres & cocktails for the big race, the news broke yesterday that the party is officially over -- because I'll Have Another is going into retirement.

His trainer, Doug O'Neill, sadly announced that his beloved horse has tendinitis in his left leg, and it just isn't worth having him run and risk a potentially life threatening injury just to take home the Triple Crown winner title. And while the decision was no doubt a painful one for O'Neill, I'll Have Another's owners, and of course, jockey Mario Gutierrez -- they absolutely did the right thing.
