POSTS WITH TAG: fights

It's September, and you know what? Fans of professional football should be quite happy about that. But, wow, week 1 of the NFL season was not without some drama ... fan fight drama. The best of which was a ridiculous fight that took place among some, um, passionate Oakland Raiders fans.

It got so extreme, in fact, that cops had to get involved, and naturally, there's a video (and some awkwardly hilarious high-res images) of the whole thing.

Granted, the Raiders lost to the San Diego Chargers on Monday Night Football, and the team hasn't won a Super Bowl since 1983 -- perhaps their fans really do have something to get pissed about. But this pissed? To the point where a woman, who was about to get handcuffed, raises her free fist to whack a cop, then nearly falls off the balcony as she's getting restrained? Lesson learned, though it's something most NFL lovers are aware of: Don't mess with Raiders fans.

Even after winning a gold medal in the 2012 Olympic Games, it seems that the drama continues for U.S. women's soccer goalie, Hope Solo. Remember back when she was on the 13th season of Dancing With the Stars with partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy? Maybe not, but since she wrote her tell-all book, Solo: A Memoir of Hope, everyone now is trying to remember her time with Maksim and if her brand new allegations hold any weight.

She says in her book that Chmerkovskiy slapped her in the face during a training session. "He was often nasty, swearing at me and being harshly critical," she wrote. "He manhandled me in rehearsals from the start, pushing me, whacking my stomach, bending my arms roughly." She says the show's producers asked her if she wanted a different partner following the incident and she declined.

You know what I've got to say about all this? Whip out the tape, ABC!

Well, I'm not sure how much worse it could get for Chad Johnson, aka Chad Ochocinco. The recently released Miami Dolphin star wide receiver was arrested a few days ago for allegedly head-butting his new wife, Evelyn Lozada, star of Basketball Wives. It's a sad and unfortunate incident, made all the more real now that the audio of the 911 call has been released.

Evelyn had fled to a neighbor's house, with a large gash on her forehead, and her (seemingly very calm) neighbor then proceeded to call 911. He warned the dispatcher that he didn't want the police to make a scene or to make Johnson even angrier. You can also hear him tell Evelyn to wipe her forehead and hear her give input in the background. The call lasts for a good four minutes if you'd like to hear it for yourself.

Dez BryantYou expect to see some pretty weird NFL off-season stories when these athletes have all the time and money in the world to get into trouble. But Dez Bryant's latest headline-making arrest is definitely not weird -- it's just downright disturbing. The Dallas Cowboys receiver was arrested on charges of misdemeanor domestic violence from a conflict that allegedly happened last Saturday.

The Dallas Morning News crime blog reported: "Police said the Lufkin native grabbed his mother by the T-shirt, causing it and her bra to tear ... She said he then grabbed her by the hair and slapped her across the face with his ball cap."

According to police, she experienced pain and swelling from the assault. Bryant supposedly hit her after she asked him to leave after a loud argument.

I mean ... come on, seriously, what the hell?!?

I'm guessing that David Beckham is feeling a lot of pent up rage lately. He didn't make the British Olympic soccer team and cannot play for the country that's hosting and where he's from -- taking away 90 percent of the reason most people watch soccer (right?).

We saw a glimpse of this anger during the 91st minute of the Los Angeles Galaxy vs. San Jose Quakes game. Sam Cronin (shockingly) tried to fake an injury and hit the deck to run out the clock. Beckham then kicked the ball at Cronin, and soon enough the hottie was involved in a scuffle that even involved ... the opposing team's mascot.

Watching the video may be a minute of your life you won't be able to get back, but still, an angry Beckham sure is a smokin' Beckham (and an accurate Beckham). I promise you that this is going to be the most nonsensical thing you'll see all day!

I guess there's nothing like a little training with a world-famous boxer to make you feel badass enough to assault a paparazzo? It turns out Justin Bieber was learning some tips from Mike Tyson and sparring with him (well, Tyson was holding the bag ...) just days before Bieber allegedly struck a photographer. Of course there's video of him training, which has circulated the 'net in light of Biebs becoming a wanted kid man.

The photographer, who hasn't been identified yet, said Bieber struck him in the face on Sunday when he was on a date with Selena Gomez. Apparently the photographer was blocking Bieber's car, which led to the hit.

Hey, since adrenaline courses through one's body while training for a fight (I'm just assuming here, since I've never punched anything), maybe Bieber thought just reacted and used his new moves on this paparazzo, who I'm sure got his adrenaline rushing as well.

Metta World Peace elbows James Harden

So, guys. Have you heard of this dude, Metta World Peace, formerly known as Ron Artest? He's an NBA player for the Los Angeles Lakers and pulled an incredibly douche-tastic move in his latest game: he blatantly elbowed James Harden, player for Oklahoma City Thunder, in the head, giving him a concussion!

Metta World Peace (can we just call him MWP for now?) was immediately ejected from the game and is currently awaiting punishment from the league. Let's hope he's suspended for multiple games! This guy needs to learn a lesson!

But nothing can compare to the hilarious Tweets that have come out from this whole debacle, especially due to the irony of MWP changing his name to "Peace" and then committing such a violent act. See video of the elbowing and our roundup of Twitter reactions after the jump.

There's always a fine line in sports in terms of what is and isn't okay when it comes to violence. What makes a hit legal vs. illegal? Especially in a sport that is violent by nature? These are the kinds of questions asked when you see what Shea Weber did to Henrik Zetterberg. When the Detriot Red Wings took on the Nashville Predators on Thursday in Game 1 of their playoff series, Weber grabbed Zetterberg's head and pounded it into the glass so hard, his helmet cracked into two pieces!

Jeez, I mean, we all know hockey can get violent, but to deliberately grab a man's head and proceed to try to smash it through a wall during the middle of a game? Seems like Weber crossed that line with this hit, and of course the cameras caught the entire incident. You gotta see it to believe it.

If you missed the premiere of the fourth season of Basketball Wives on VH1 on Monday night, and you're a Housewives or reality TV fan in general, perhaps you oughta tune in next week. The premiere featured a fight that makes for reality TV gold.

Jennifer Williams and Evelyn Lozada, who've reportedly been friends for the past 14 years, got into an argument in what turned out to be the highlight of the episode. They almost came to blows and couldn't drop enough f-bombs at each other. The reason for the fight? A blog post that Jennifer's publicist supposedly wrote. Evelyn felt judged when Jennifer "wrote" about her relationship with Chad Ochocinco while Jennifer thought Evelyn was overreacting to the whole thing. You'll have to see it to believe it.

Ravens center Matt BirkI wonder what kind of waivers you're required to sign when you accept the position of NFL referee. I'm guessing there's a fair amount of dotted lines and clauses about not taking "legal action against the NFL" in the case of "severe injuries sustained to [your name here]'s person."

So NFL referee Tony Corrente certainly knew he might get kicked around at work sometimes, like he did at a September Ravens-Steelers game. Hey, when it's your job to break up a brawl between four huge dudes with bad tempers, of course you're gonna end up getting shoved to the ground and smacking the back of your head.

But there's no way Corrente could have predicted that an on-the-job accident would save his life.
