A couple of crooks got way more than they bargained for when they tried (and failed) to steal cellphones from a group of kickboxers -- and wound up getting way more than a harsh scolding.

You know that whole "eye for an eye" thing? Well, wherever this kickboxing gym was, they definitely seem to follow that philosophy.

Back before Tiger Woods' crazy porn star-filled scandal, it was kind of a given that he was one of the highest paid athletes ... well, ever. Now that he's lost some endorsements and hasn't won many major tournaments recently, the title was up for grabs. I thought it could have gone to a football player, or an NBA player, but nope, the title goes to: Floyd Mayweather.

Poor Floyd can't even celebrate his new title, as he's currently sitting in jail. The 35-year-old is serving a three-month sentence after pleading guilty to reduced domestic battery charges after allegedly attacking his former girlfriend while two of their children watched.

Still, the controversial fighter made $85 million in income this year from his two fights Victor Ortiz ($40 million) and Miguel Cotto ($45 million). Holy moly!

Honestly, call me naive, but I had no idea this much money went into boxing.

I guess there's nothing like a little training with a world-famous boxer to make you feel badass enough to assault a paparazzo? It turns out Justin Bieber was learning some tips from Mike Tyson and sparring with him (well, Tyson was holding the bag ...) just days before Bieber allegedly struck a photographer. Of course there's video of him training, which has circulated the 'net in light of Biebs becoming a wanted kid man.

The photographer, who hasn't been identified yet, said Bieber struck him in the face on Sunday when he was on a date with Selena Gomez. Apparently the photographer was blocking Bieber's car, which led to the hit.

Hey, since adrenaline courses through one's body while training for a fight (I'm just assuming here, since I've never punched anything), maybe Bieber thought just reacted and used his new moves on this paparazzo, who I'm sure got his adrenaline rushing as well.

What should have been a fun weekend spent celebrating his brother's wedding turned into a nightmare for boxer Paul Williams, "The Punisher," after he crashed his motorcycle in Marietta, Georgia, and was injured so severely that he is now paralyzed from the waist down. (Awful!) When the accident happened, Paul fell on his back and neck, which caused his spinal cord to be severed. And while he's lucky to be alive -- his career in boxing is sadly over for good.

What really makes this story even more tragic is that Paul is only 30 years old -- so he was at the top of his game and really had his whole life ahead of him. And if that isn't bad enough -- he seems to be hopeful that he will eventually get back in the boxing ring. (Doesn't that just break your heart?)

Boxer Hector "Macho" Camacho was arrested this week on child abuse charges over an incident that took place a year ago involving his teenage son. Camacho allegedly became angry with the boy and wound up stomping on him on the ground -- an act that is heartbreaking and inconceivable for most parents to imagine. His son says he believes his dad was high on drugs when the altercation went down.

Even though Hector was the one who turned himself into police, he insists that he does not use drugs and indicates that things are nice and rosy again between him and his family. He also claims that while he did have an argument over money with his two teenage sons, he picked up the phone and called the police "before anything happened."

Mike Tyson may be best known for his heavyweight stardom going all the way back to the mid-'80s, but these days, the retired boxer seems to have taken on an entirely new persona. Remember how he played air drums and sang Phil Collins' "In the Air Tonight" in The Hangover? Bhahah! Yeah, it seems that wasn't just a one-time deal. In all seriousness, Tyson must actually love to sing, because he recently appeared on a Brazilian variety show, Caldeirão do Luciano Huck, looking what can only be described as dapper and singing "The Girl From Ipanema."

And this time, I don't think he was kidding around.

An attempt by the Amateur International Boxing Association to make female boxers wear skirts doesn't represent the first time female athletes have been treated like sex objects. But it may be the silliest. Boxing authorities in Poland have actually had the audacity to say this will make the competitors more "elegant."

Because nothing says elegance like beating someone's face in in front of a screaming crowd! Of course, if the person with the mean right hook shows a little thigh in the process, she's grace personified ...

Floyd Mayweather Jr. weighing in.If you care about boxing at all ... or know anyone that does ... the odds are they've already paid their money to HBO's PPV and are planning their evening around making sure they are in front of a screen at 9pm tonight. If you don't care about boxing, well then, you seriously don't know what you are missing because this match up between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Victor Ortiz is as much about the characters in the ring as it is about what happens in the ring.

Still, if it was up to me, I would much rather watch Mayweather duke it out with Clubber Lang. Remember him? The mohawk and feather wearing character played my Mr. T in Rocky III.

Boxing champ and legend Oscar De La Hoya may be retired, but he's still making the news a lot these days, and it's not all "golden." The athlete, who has 10 world titles and one Olympic gold medal, opened up recently in an interview on the Spanish-language network Univision about his battle with depression and drug addiction. Although a lot of what he's admitting to makes him look like a scumbucket (multiple affairs behind his wife's back aren't exactly surprising, but are still so sleeeeazy), his candor about his struggles is actually kinda refreshing.

I mean, really, how frequently do we see someone who is on Oscar's level come out and say, "Yeah, I totally messed up and need help!"? What's more, he also could have very easily kept mum about all of this; it's not like a lawsuit forced him to 'fess up, you know? It sounds like his impetus was merely hitting rock bottom in May and seeking help in rehab for his addiction to cocaine and booze.

Boxing icon Oscar De La Hoya checked himself into rehab for many reasons. Booze, coke, thoughts of suicide, and multiple affairs behind his wife's back were among them. In the past, the athlete remained fairly mum on the logistics of all his demons, but the boxing champ recently sat down with Univision for a rather candid interview.

What did we find out? That Oscar De La Hoya still has a really skewed sense of reality.
