Michael Jordan’s New Paternity Suit for a 16-Year-Old Is All Kinds of Wrong

Michael JordanBasketball legend and all around amazing athlete Michael Jordan has been hit with a paternity lawsuit from an Atlanta woman who claims the superstar is the father of her 16-year-old son. She wants child support and a share of medical, dental and hospital costs that are not covered by insurance.

It’s not his first paternity lawsuit, but the first one was thrown out because (duh) he WASN’T the father. Do these women think they can cheat paternity tests?  A paternity suit against an athlete is not exactly a shocking thing in this day and age. In fact, I once heard that professional athletes are basically told early on that they can and should expect to be framed in this way by women looking for a quick pay day.

Now, Jordan may very well have sired this boy. He is clearly fertile as he has three children with his former wife, two boys and a girl. But I would look at this with a lot of doubt, especially considering this is not the first time.

As a mother and a woman, I have to say, I am completely disgusted by this. I truly can’t imagine anything more disgusting than trying to get pregnant or using your womb to get a pay day. It’s bad for the child. Terrible, in fact. What child wants to know that his mother essentially chose to have him against his father’s wishes and then hit him up for money when she was too pathetic to hack it on her own. Not too impressive.

If Jordan is this child’s father, then of course, he owes him money. But 16 years later? What kind of relationship can they have? Women who do this give ALL women a bad name. Forcing a man into a paternity situation is about the lowest of the low. Whether she is telling the truth or not, it is still a bad situation and the person who is most hurt is a defenseless child.

Sure, accidental pregnancies happen, but who would believe this was an “oops?” There are more of these calculated things than any of us know and whether it is for money or a trick to lock a man down,  having a child for any other reason than wanting to be a mother and having a good situation to bring them into just feels wrong.

It will be interesting to see how all this plays out.

Do you think Jordan will be the dad?

Way to assume that she is waiting for a pay day. Maybe she thought she could do it. Maybe he threatened her. Maybe the kid has so medical bills she needs help. The point is is that we do not know, until the paternity test tells us.

"Against his father's wishes?" You don't know she did that. He must know where where babies come from. Maybe he's not the father; maybe he is. Both people are responsible for birth control. Sixteen is a little old to come forward with a paternity claim, but that doesn't mean she got pregnant on purpose. Child support is the right of the CHILD. That's why we have paternity laws.

No, this does NOT give all women a bad name. This only gives that particular woman a bad name if it's found he is not the dad. Also, if MJ had kept his dick in his pants there'd be no question. I hate the double standard of men can be whores and it's ok but damn if a woman does it then it's super bad. Both are equally bad.

This is a harsh article. For all we know she's tried without the court to get his help and he's ignored it. And reality is, 16 years old it 6 days old, the our deserves to know, if he is the father that child deserves everything his others already have. Including a comfortable life and all the extras it comes with, including opportunities that may otherwise not be available without his bio dad. Maybe at 16 the kid asked his mom to finally do it!

I was basically going to say the same thing as rae021 - that maybe she tried to do it without dragging his name through the mud and never got anywhere. Only time will tell.

I got a cousin in this way. His mom waited 12 years before she decided she wanted money and a paternity test from my uncle. I'm glad she did though cause we all love him.

Really? Wow this site really makes me realize how hypocritical women are... woo.. "if he would've kept his dick in his pants this would not be an issue" he's a grown ass mothafuckn man and if this woman is bsing then he has nothing to do with it. Now if it is his kid maybe there can be a relationship. He's only 16. Maybe he grew up thinking some other man was his dad, and then him and his mom found out that man wasn't the dad. There's logical reasons for her waiting. All I can say is hopefully she's not bsin and this kid does get to meet his father.

Meh. Take it to the Maury Show. It would be cool to hear him say either one, "MJ you are NOT the father!" or "MJ you ARE the father!" right?

Sarcasm. For those that may take the above comment seriously.
