'DWTS' Maksim Chmerkovskiy vs. Hope Solo: Who’s the Biggest Diva? (VIDEO)

by Jill Baughman on August 22, 2012 at 3:23 PM

Hope Solo Maksim ChmerkovskiyEven after winning a gold medal in the 2012 Olympic Games, it seems that the drama continues for U.S. women's soccer goalie, Hope Solo. Remember back when she was on the 13th season of Dancing With the Stars with partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy? Maybe not, but since she wrote her tell-all book, Solo: A Memoir of Hope, everyone now is trying to remember her time with Maksim and if her brand new allegations hold any weight.

She says in her book that Chmerkovskiy slapped her in the face during a training session. "He was often nasty, swearing at me and being harshly critical," she wrote. "He manhandled me in rehearsals from the start, pushing me, whacking my stomach, bending my arms roughly." She says the show's producers asked her if she wanted a different partner following the incident and she declined.

You know what I've got to say about all this? Whip out the tape, ABC!

Don't they film all the rehearsals on Dancing With the Stars? I'm sure if Chmerkovskiy (wow his name is tough to type) did actually slap Solo like she alleges, there's film from the incident somewhere. Since Maks and ABC aren't making any public statements about this, they're considering what they can do legally.

Since ABC is jumping on board with pursuing the legal option against Solo, it probably doesn't bode well for her, especially if ABC has recorded almost every single time she's rehearsed with her partner. I'm sure they're willing to do whatever they can to protect Maks if this footage doesn't exist.

But of course we can't jump to any conclusions, and Maks has definitely been known to be a bit of a drama queen himself. Though I didn't watch their season, many commenters are saying that Maks didn't treat Solo very well and that he was pretty harsh with her. I'm sure this was the case from seeing him in previous seasons, and it doesn't surprise me there was some physical contact with the way these dances are choreographed and how quickly they have to learn their routines. But slapping her in the face definitely crosses a line, and I'll bet if this did indeed happen, ABC has got the footage and will hopefully be able to clear this mess up.

Here's more on the story:

What do you think about Maksim Chmerkovskiy and ABC thinking about suing Hope Solo?

Might be good to check your facts before you bash Hope. She made it to the semi-finals of her season...the final four. How would that mean she "Didn't last all that long?" I say if none of this happened why don't the producers deny it? They have all the footage.

If she let him slap her and continued on with the show with him she is an idiot.  I would have walked away right then- show or not.

Hope had such a sour attitude on DWTS. She was always quick to point the finger at someone else. She's even known to throw her soccer teamates under the bus. I guess she thinks she is perfect & can do no wrong.

Maks was tough on her and his teaching methods aren't exactly like some of the other pros, but I doubt he slapped her across the face.

Both are absolutely drama queens. What a match in heaven! And even if hope is a liar, maks remains harsh and always arrogant in the way of questioning the judges' comments. I am glad this whole issue came out. If there's a smoke, there's a fire.

Hope Solo is a liar & needs mental help. She says crap like this, when there is video evidence to support that she remained friends with Maks. 10 days ago she has seats available for him at the Olympics. She told Anderson Cooper that her's and Maks' relationship is the one good thing she takes from DWTS. She is a liar~
