A few weeks ago, a young fan, 6-year-old Joseph Armento, was so upset that his favorite player Brandon Jacobs was no longer a New York Giant, he sent him all the savings he had after learning the Giants could no longer afford to keep him -- totaling to $3.36.
And Joseph's note to his hero was short and sweet: "Dear Brandon Jacobs, So you could go to the Giants, here is my money. Love, Joe."
Jacobs was so touched that he shared a photo of the letter and the money on Twitter and said he was moved to tears. Since Jacobs is such a stand-up guy, he followed through on his promise to visit his young fan and give him an afternoon that they won't soon forget.
Jacobs visited Joseph's home and not only repaid him his $3.36 (he gave him $5, saying he earned the interest "just for being a good kid"), but also gave him a signed helmet and THEN took Joe and his 4-year-old brother out to a bounce house for the afternoon!
That's definitely a day to remember, and what a fitting gesture to reward one of the league's biggest fans. What I wouldn't give to see the 6'4", 266-pound NFL player jumping around in a bounce house. I wish there was a video! They played together for nearly two hours.
Jacobs said of the whole thing:
It was just us in the whole place and we were just going room to room -- just bouncing and flipping all over the place, hitting each other with balls, sweating, our shirts filthy. We were just dirty, stinky boys, you know?
Must have been quite the scene. I'm sure little Joseph will cherish the memory forever, along with his new signed helmet, which, yes, was a Giants helmet, featuring Jacobs' old number (Jacobs plays for the San Francisco 49ers now). He wrote: "To Joe: Thanks for being a fan. God bless, Brandon Jacobs."
What a sweet story! Little, loyal fans like this show what loving football and its players is all about.
What do you think of Jacobs repaying his 6-year-old fan?

What a wonderful man!! And a precious child :)
awesome!!
Let's have more heart-warming stories like this one. It may take some effort on the media's part to find stories like this, what with Jerry Sandusky's and Kim Kardashian's in our faces morning, noon, and night...but the effort would be well worth it, don't you think? God Bless Brandon and his young fans! :) Go Niners! :)
