No matter how many I see, I never get tired of watching reunions between brave members of our military and their loved ones once they return to the U.S. -- especially when their homecoming is unexpected. Two little girls got the surprise of their lives when they attended a Minnesota Twins game over Memorial Day Weekend. Not only were Annie and Alex Buresh thrilled to have the chance to run the bases on the field -- but they were also beyond shocked when their dad jumped out behind the team mascot to surprise them!
Sergeant Robert Buresh had been over in Afghanistan for six months, and he wanted to make sure to give his family a homecoming that they'd never forget. He first thought about showing up at their school, but when he found out he'd be coming home on a weekend, he emailed the Minnesota Twins.
The team happily set up the entire reunion, and while Sergeant Buresh's wife was in on the secret, his little girls had no clue he'd come home -- and the crowd at the park that day was also unaware that they were about to witness something wonderful.
You can watch his emotional reunion with his daughters in this video clip.
Didn't you absolutely melt after seeing the look of pure joy on those little girls' faces? And I loved how the crowd started cheering and gave them a round of applause and a standing ovation. Seeing things like this always makes me so proud to be an American -- and so thankful for just how much the brave members of our military do for our country.
Have you ever witnessed a homecoming or other major event at a ballgame?
