Things got ugly last night during the game between the Texas Rangers and the New York Yankees. Only it happened in the stands, not on the field, and it made one little boy very, very sad.
At the top of the eighth inning, Rangers first baseman, Mitch Moreland, tossed a ball up into the crowd. A little boy saw it coming and was so excited to catch it ... until a horrible man sitting beside him snatched right out from under his nose. What happened next was even more awful.
After snagging it, the man handed it to the woman he was with as the boy sat sobbing nearby. Then she continued to preen for the camera as the boy was devastated and his whole little world was ruined. Watch for yourself:
Now, I understand getting caught up in the action and diving for a ball, but when this guy saw the kid and his devastation, the only right thing to do would be to give him the ball. How heartless are those people? I love how the sports announcer, Michael Kay, totally called them out for their bad behavior saying they were rubbing in it his face. Talk about bad sports, and what are they going to do with the ball anyway?
Fortunately, someone else eventually gave the kid a ball, and he was happy in the end. Still, those people should be ashamed ... and I'm sure the millions of people who will see their faces as this video goes viral will remind them of that as well.
Can you believe they didn't give the boy the ball? What's the worst fan behavior you've seen at a sporting event?
