Lamar Odom Released From Mavericks: What Does This Mean for Him & Khloe?

This Just In 12

Khloe and LamarWell, it's official: Lamar Odom and the Dallas Mavericks have parted ways. The team and Odom got to spend Easter Sunday working on an arrangement that would let Odom leave the team immediately without actually being released.

The Mavericks are just going to list him as inactive for the rest of the season instead of outright releasing him. This means they could still trade him after the season is over.

Whew. Talk about a rocky road in Dallas for the Odom-Kardashian crew. Think this could mean yet another move to who-knows-where for these two? Since Lamar and Khloe's marriage had such problems when they first moved to Dallas, you gotta wonder what's going to happen now.

The move affected the two of them personally and professionally. And now they'll both have to deal with the aftermath of this latest news, especially in terms of what it means for Odom's career. As of right now, someone close to the 32-year-old Odom told that the decision will help set him up to "clear his head and start getting ready for next season." His numbers and statistics had reached career lows.

It's a little bit sad how beloved and amazing Odom did as a Laker and how terrible he played as a Maverick. It may have all started with the July murder of his 24-year-old cousin. Then he was involved in a fatal car accident days later that killed a teen pedestrian -- he was a passenger in the car that crashed into a motorcycle. He just hasn't played the same since.

Plus he had to deal with moving to a new city, which, from the Khloe & Lamar shows that have been airing about the move, put quite a bit of strain on their relationship. But recently it seemed they were finally adjusting to Dallas life, and now they may have to up and move again.

Who knows what's next for Khloe and Lamar at this point now that Lamar basically won't be playing until next season. I mean, it's not like he has much to worry about financially being a part of the Kardashian empire, but I hope this isn't the final straw that breaks Khloe and Lamar's marriage. As a professional athlete, your life can change in the blink of an eye. Who knows what could happen as Lamar figures out his next step in the NBA. But I can pretty much guarantee that there will be cameras around filming all the action as they try to work it all out together.

Are you surprised Lamar Odom and the Dallas Mavericks parted ways? What do you think this means for him and Khloe?

Stacey. Stacey.

The NBA, like all businesses, doesnt care about excuses, they only care about the quality of work being produced, which in his case sucks.

Thank you Stacey. You just voiced what all Mavs fans were thinking. It's about time. His shoddy performance aside, I like them together, and I hope it simply means they have to move somewhere else, that's all.

Lamar Odom is a stong gentle man.  While I have not seen much of him and Khloe recently (illness & giving up public office) I would love to see them come to Virginia and visit the Boo Williams Sportsplex in Hampton.  Boo Williams is one of the greatest basketball players ever to play the game (mostly in Europe) but well respected throughout the sports profession and citizens worldwide.  I am not talking about points and statistics but his passion for the game and love for children.  Boo teaches by example.  He walks the walk not just talk the talk.  I have had the privilege of working with him and becoming a friend.   Come see for yourselves and we can guarantee you the memory of a lifetime.  Many noted people in sports both players and coaches come from this area and chose to return/retire here.  The beauty, history and diversity is unmatched.  The entire Hampton Roads Region would welcome you spending some time with us, you just might find a reason to stay or retire here eventually even though that is a long time away.   Lamar and Khloe you started with a beautiful sweet love affair and you need to be reminded that Virginia is for Lovers! You are still young and simply going through what is called "a character building" challange.  This is simply preparation for the future.   Stay Strong through each other!

Of all the people who appear on these creepy shows, Khloe and Lamar seem to be the nicest and most down-to-earth; they appear to be the real deal, not a publicity stunt. I hope they make it.

I think they seem to have a very strong marriage and are very much in love. It must be hard when your with a team for as long as he was with the Lakers and to then be traded like they didn't care at all. He probably thought he'd be there forever. That has to be very hard on both of them. They say moving is one of the most stressful things besides death and divorce in a persons life , so with the move, being traded , and his cousin dying, who can blame him for feeling crappy. They'll be OK, I'm sure.

Lamar may need a break during this season. This will give him space to think about himself & put himself first which makes him happy. May need time to see counselor to guide to whatever he wants especially gain his self esteem back. With God, there is no impossible! Give him second chance. No one on this earth is a perfect human. Pray & guide him to a bright future. If he plans not to play basketball, this is not end of the world. Mane, many young kids need Lamar to coach them like Big brother to Little brothers. Lamar will find that he is useful to youngsters

Who need role model since Lamar is so humble. Give Lamar second chance to do what he wants so he can be happy again at no matter what's happen to him now. (maybe it makes Mav fans happier to see team win games. game is game!).

I wish Lamar & his supportive wife to stay here in Dallas & do something that they can help youngsters so. They have good memories here in Dallas instead run back to LA. It will not solve their inner feeling until they stay here to proof Dallasites that they overcome the negative remarks. Especially the youngsters really need them in our communities.

Hope this encouragement help Lamar & his wife realize we need them here more than LA. Thanks. God bless them!
