Here's an image you won't be able to get out of your head anytime soon today. Charles Barkley, one of the NBA's best power forwards ever, opted to wear a wig and a halter dress and heels and jewels for a new Weight Watchers campaign aimed at men.
In the "Lose Like a Man" TV spot, which airs on April 8, Barkley, who's had weight problems in the past, says that he'll do anything to get the attention of men so they feel comfortable addressing their weight issues too. I'd certainly say this is a way to get it!
Barkley's actually lost 42 pounds on the program, and, well, everything about him looks fantastic, don't you think? Those arms, those shoes, those ... boobs?
For those you who aren't familiar, Barkley has been known to never take himself too seriously, which I find extremely refreshing in the sports world. This isn't even the first time he's dressed in drag! He wore a wig, sat at the piano, and did an amazing Alicia Keys impression for SNL back in 2010. It's something you have to see to believe.
So now that he's mocked Alicia Keys, perhaps he's doing a little bit of the same to Jennifer Hudson and her Weight Watchers commercials? We'll have to wait and see until the spot airs. Whatever the intent, it's hilarious.
And it's an important message to get out there. Barkley's fully admitted that his laziness caused him to gain 100 pounds. He revealed, "The doctor said, 'Hey dude, if you don't lose some weight you're either going to get diabetes, have a stroke, or drop dead. It's either A, B, or C." So, good on him for doing whatever he can to make sure men get the message too. Women may obsess about their weight, but men need to control theirs as well. Can't think of a better or more funny spokesman than Charles Barkley to get the message out.
Speaking of Barkley, whenever I see his name, I can't help but picture his horrific golf swing. Talk about a guy who keeps making folks laugh:
