We all say things we regret later, and obviously Brady Quinn is having second thoughts regarding the less-than-flattering comments he made about Tim Tebow during an interview for GQ. Well, sure -- remarks that seem casual and non-threatening in the context of a conversation carry a lot more weight when they're printed in black and white ("The Year of Magical Stinking: An Oral History of Tebow Time" just hit newsstands on Tuesday). But did Quinn really need to apologize for his words? I don't think so.
Granted, I can see how things could get a little awkward if Quinn didn't try to take back what he said, considering he and Tebow are teammates on the Denver Broncos.
But it's not like Quinn slammed Tebow for the sake of slamming him. He didn't even slam him, really. Quinn basically just said what everybody else was thinking out loud.
Which was this: When asked about Tebowmania's role in his team's winning streak, he said, "We've had a lot of, I guess, luck, to put it simply." (In other words, no, Tebow isn't the Broncos Messiah.)
And of Tebow taking the spotlight: "I felt like the fans had a lot to do with that. Just cause they were chanting his name. There was a big calling for him. No, I don't have any billboards. That would have been nice."
Of course it would have been nice! You can't blame the guy. As for his comments about the way Tebow flaunted his religion (for the record, Quinn is also a Christian), well ... Quinn had a good point, quite frankly, when he said it didn't "seem very humble" to him.
Again, given the whole teammates situation, I guess Quinn felt like he had no choice but to apologize. But he really shouldn't have had to.

I think everybody should get theri damn noses out of it. This wouldn't be an issue if the press and bloggers didn't get their shorts in a bunch every time Tebow blinks. So the guy is an Evangelical Christian. So What? HE isn't asking for the attention, it is being thrown at him. Like others are constantly told about anything that offends them, "if you don't like it, look away".
So should Quinn apologize? I would say that's between him and Tebow, wouldn't you?
*obviously it's a typo. I meant "their"
Grow up dude. Yes he owed Tebow and apology. He could have said he wasn't interested in answering questions about Tebow and leave it at that.
I agree with Pony.........the Media makes such a big deal out of the least little thing. I agree it should all be between Quinn and Tebow. I am a fan of both of them!
