Yvette Prieto and Michael JordanYvette Prieto, 32, might just get the award for luckiest woman of the week. Why, you ask? Well, last weekend Michael Jordan, 48, proposed (think he was on bended knee?) to the absolutely stunning Cuban-American model. Hmmm, let me revise my beginning ... Michael Jordan is pretty damn lucky as well.

Listen, I know Michael Jordan, retired basketball superstar, can get tons of women, but -- a gazillionaire or not -- finding someone you want to be with for the rest of your life isn't an easy thing.

I am sure Jordan did some serious vetting when the couple first started dating three years ago! You don't become the giant (at 6'6'', no pun intended) he is today by jumping into things lightly. Jordan is very calculated with his public persona. He doesn't endorse political figures, he is smart about what he says to the press, and he has created brands within brands within brands. Oh yeah, and there is that little part about him owning the Charlotte Bobcats.

The man has got to have some skeletons in his closet, right? Well, if there are, his dirty laundry stays mostly out of sight. He has managed to play out his entire life close-to-the-vest. Sure, we all know he was married for 17 years to his first wife, Juanita Vanoy. And we know she made off with some big bucks in the end -- $168 million to be exact! However, Jordan, much like Derek Jeter -- and the polar opposite of, say ... Kris Kardashian Humphries -- does everything in his power to control public perception of his personal brand.

There is no disputing Michael Jordan is the best to have played the game. He has kicked ass and taken names. Whether it is his six NBA championship rings, the five times he's been chosen as NBA MVP, his two Olympic gold medals, or his 14 All-Star game appearances (two of which he won MVP) -- he is now stepping up for another big challenge. No matter how much money you have, no matter how many times your new kicks cause mass hysteria, that won't help you have a strong marriage. No amount of calculation can guarantee that.

I do wonder what Jordan's kids, Jeffrey Michael, 23, Marcus James, 21, and Jasmine, 19, think about their soon-to-be new step-mom.

Congratulations to the happy couple!

Do you think he is the best player to have ever played the game?
