Michael Jordan Scores Engagement to Sexy Model

Yvette Prieto and Michael JordanYvette Prieto, 32, might just get the award for luckiest woman of the week. Why, you ask? Well, last weekend Michael Jordan, 48, proposed (think he was on bended knee?) to the absolutely stunning Cuban-American model. Hmmm, let me revise my beginning ... Michael Jordan is pretty damn lucky as well.

Listen, I know Michael Jordan, retired basketball superstar, can get tons of women, but -- a gazillionaire or not -- finding someone you want to be with for the rest of your life isn't an easy thing.

I am sure Jordan did some serious vetting when the couple first started dating three years ago! You don't become the giant (at 6'6'', no pun intended) he is today by jumping into things lightly. Jordan is very calculated with his public persona. He doesn't endorse political figures, he is smart about what he says to the press, and he has created brands within brands within brands. Oh yeah, and there is that little part about him owning the Charlotte Bobcats.

The man has got to have some skeletons in his closet, right? Well, if there are, his dirty laundry stays mostly out of sight. He has managed to play out his entire life close-to-the-vest. Sure, we all know he was married for 17 years to his first wife, Juanita Vanoy. And we know she made off with some big bucks in the end -- $168 million to be exact! However, Jordan, much like Derek Jeter -- and the polar opposite of, say ... Kris Kardashian Humphries -- does everything in his power to control public perception of his personal brand.

There is no disputing Michael Jordan is the best to have played the game. He has kicked ass and taken names. Whether it is his six NBA championship rings, the five times he's been chosen as NBA MVP, his two Olympic gold medals, or his 14 All-Star game appearances (two of which he won MVP) -- he is now stepping up for another big challenge. No matter how much money you have, no matter how many times your new kicks cause mass hysteria, that won't help you have a strong marriage. No amount of calculation can guarantee that.

I do wonder what Jordan's kids, Jeffrey Michael, 23, Marcus James, 21, and Jasmine, 19, think about their soon-to-be new step-mom.

Congratulations to the happy couple!

Do you think he is the best player to have ever played the game?

Theres no doubt he is the greatest there is, was and ever will be! He is the most electrifying athlete that has ever walked the earth and the NBA isnt the same without him. There will never be another sports figure to captivate such a large variety of people and he will be the icon of many generations of ballers who just "wanna be like Mike."

Hands down best player ever. Unlike today's stars, he played both sides of the ball.

Oh he played the game well. Both games the one on the court and the the one with women. We must not read the same publications because there were a number of stories about Jordan and women while he was married. I'll give it to him he controlled his public image well, he picked some very discreet loyal women. I don't think his mentoring of Tiger stopped just at being a good athlete if you know what I mean. But he's older now and deserves a new chance. So best of luck to him and to her.

Ha,ha..its a known FACT that MJ was a serial cheater during his former marriage and yet you think she is lucky? This of course from the same site who castrates Jesse James,Austin Kutcher and others for doing the same thing ? Brilliant.MJ must have paid alot of 'shut-up money' to the all the white trash he cheated with perhaps.
