Basketball Chants to Learn Before March Madness

Megan Van Schaick

cameron crazies March Madness is right around the corner. It's that frenzied time of year when college basketball teams from around the country wrap up their regional championships and 64 of the chosen ones make their way to the big dance to find out who will be number one.

And you can't just go into watching these championships like you've never been to a basketball game before (even if you haven't). You can't hit the Big 10 final yelling "Rock Chalk!" as if Kansas is playing.

We don't want you to make a fool of yourself (well, that much of a fool), so here are some chants that will get you through any game -- no matter which teams are playing.

When the ref makes a bad call:

Nuts and Bolts, Nuts and Bolts, We! Got! Screwed!

I'm blind, I'm deaf, I wanna be a ref!!!

*Clap* *Clap* Bull-sh*t!

To razz players on the team you're rooting against:

During introductions, as the player's name is announced: Hi, ______! You suck!

As the ball is dribbled, passed, and shot, to be repeated during whatever action is taking place: Bounce, bounce, pass, bounce, shot!

The PA announcer will ask (when a team is losing badly): "Can anyone find the keys to the bus?" You reply by taking out your keys and shaking them at the opposing team.

When an airball is shot: Aiiiirball, aiiiiirball!

To the star of the opposing team: Ov-er-RA-ted!

To any opponent, especially one who commits a foul against your team: You-you-you-YOU SUCK!

As the player fouls out and sits down on the bench: Ooooooooooooooooooooo, SEE YA!

Keep these chants in mind whether you're at the game or just watching from the comfort of your couch (even if no one can hear you, yelling at the tube makes the game a million times more fun).
