A 37-year-old woman from Brazil made headlines this week when doctors performed an emergency C-section on her only to realize she was not pregnant. The woman believed she was 41 weeks pregnant and was admitted to a hospital after complaining about abdominal pain. Not sure if her doctors gave her a sonogram or why they wouldn't after failing to detect a heartbeat, but they reportedly decided to perform a Cesarean because she looked pregnant and was experiencing some pregnancy symptoms, like nausea.

This story sounds fishy, but the woman's actual condition isn't as odd as you may think. Docs say she had a "phantom" pregnancy, which is when women are so thoroughly convinced they are pregnant that they actually experience bodily changes that resemble those felt during pregnancy.

When Nadia Watson woke up in the middle of the night last year with bad stomach cramps, she didn't think much of them. It was just that time of the month again, she thought. She was able to make her way to the bathroom just before she doubled over in pain. Suddenly, she was overcome by the desire to push -- so she pushed and pushed. And to her shock, she gave birth to a 7-pound, 11-ounce girl right there on the bathroom floor. While her boyfriend slept through her shrieking and screaming.

I thought Kim Kardashian's ultra-trout-pout was the strangest pregnancy symptom I'd ever read about, but Kristen Bell may have her beat with her so-called "Mommy voice." Apparently her voice dropped a few tones right before she had her daughter Lincoln Bell, which became obvious because Bell was voicing a character in the upcoming animated film Frozen. Bell says,

The pregnancy did change my voice. It made it deeper. There were more womanly tones when I did one recording while I was extremely pregnant. After I had the baby, I had to go back and re-record those lines so they matched. There was something more ‘Mommy’ about my voice and we had to fix it. It was one of those hormonal things that happen, I guess.

Fuller lips? A huskier, more womanly voice? (Why did I get stuck with the unattractive pregnancy symptoms, like nausea, gas, skin tags, and cankles?) It makes me wonder, are there other totally oddball pregnancy signs I've never even heard of before?

From the time my son was about 2 weeks old, I've pretty much told anyone and everyone who would listen that I'm on the "one and done" plan -- because I know what I can handle, and I can't handle more than one kid.

Of course, in the same breath, I also tell people that if I ever were to become pregnant, I'd be happy about it -- because babies are blessings and whatever is meant to be will be. And I guess somewhere in the way, way back of my mind, I wondered if maybe there was a small part of me that subconsciously wanted another child, which is why I wasn't ruling out baby number two if he were to be conceived "by accident."

If you believe the latest tabloid Kim Kardashian pregnancy rumor, she hasn't exactly been slowing down on the extreme beauty treatments while she's expecting. In addition to her inexplicable decision to continually stuff her poor swollen feet into a seemingly never-ending selection of ill-fitting heels, word on the street is that Kim's been undergoing a series of cosmetic medical procedures lately, including lip fillers and Botox.

One of those oh-so-reliable "sources" is quoted as saying that Kim will "go to any length to protect the one thing that’s most precious to her: her beauty. But when you take a look at the photographic evidence, I'm thinking the truth isn't quite as dramatic as what's being reported.

If the Beyonce pregnancy rumors have been at a dull roar since the Met Ball, consider them on FULL blast today. The diva has canceled tonight's show in Belgium and is "awaiting word from her doctors before making a decision" on tomorrow's show, which is also scheduled at the Sportpaleis in Antwerp. Her publicist cites "dehydration and exhaustion" as the cause. Uh huh! More like "pregnant with baby number two," amirite?! Okay, maybe, maybe not.

Although there are many signs that could possibly point to her expecting a sibling for Blue Ivy -- and this certainly seems like a tell-tale one -- all we know for sure is that she needed a break.

All right, Internet, pencils down. The most charming video in the category of Time-Lapse Pregnancy Documentation has officially been created, and the blue ribbon goes to new father Tomer Grencel and his gorgeous wife Osher. Grencel used 1,000 separate photos in order to string together a video that covers Osher's entire pregnancy from start to finish, and the final product is ridiculously awesome.

I'm sure you've seen this sort of stop-motion pregnancy-happening-at-the-speed-of-light video before, since they've become increasingly popular in recent years, but Grencel's effort really goes above and beyond. While many videos focus on the ever-growing bump, Grencel's clip also includes plenty of the little moments that make up a pregnancy -- including morning sickness and cravings.

Seriously, it's so tender and cute and I got all choked up watching it. Check it out:

Say you're a man, and you're bored. You come across a pregnancy test left in your bathroom cabinet by an ex-girlfriend, and you think, Hey, LOL, lemme pee on this thing! and so you do. And, you know, it's kinda funny. You then wait the appropriate amount of time to check the results, and after the three minutes or so, bazam. You see two pink lines. Congrats, you're pregnant.

WHAT!? The doctors had good and bad news for the unnamed man with a positive pregnancy test.

The running joke among me and my friends over here on the east coast waiting out Hurricane Sandy: one of us will be pacing around with an EPT test come December or January. (Alas, it won’t be me, since immaculate conceptions seem to be pretty few and far between.) Indeed, this is perfecto baby-making weather: it’s messy and gray on the streets, but comfy and cozy in the house. There’s food in the fridge, heat piping through the vents, and there’s really nowhere to go and, more importantly, no way to get there, since most areas have either shut down public transportation, declared a state of emergency, or threatened would-be drivers from taking to the roadways. It’s a setup for a baby boom. But as the blustering ramps up outside, make sure you’re just as careful inside.

Trying to guess if someone is pregnant before they're ready to tell you is a losing proposition any way you look at it. Either you're wrong and you just called a woman fat, or you're right and you take the wind of their surprise. Yet, people continue to try and do it, and end up looking like rude, insensitive jerks in the process. Take Kelly Osbourne, for example.

In a recent interview with British radio personality Alan Carr, which will air tomorrow, Osbourne claims that she's pretty sure that Lady Gaga's recent weight gain is because she's pregnant. She has all sorts of reasons to support her assertion too.
