Once you get knocked up, there's no end to the advice you get -- especially about everything that's now "forbidden" for you as a pregnant woman. Don't eat this, don't wear that, careful what socks you wear, should you even still breathe oxygen?!? Ha, I'm exaggerating, of course.

How much of this advice is actually based in fact, and how much of it is just old wives' tales? Sure, you could err on the safe side and just wrap yourself in bubble wrap for nine months. But you still need to live! A North Dakota newspaper asked some OB-GYNs to dispel a few pregnancy myths. Here's what they had to say about the dos and don'ts of pregnancy.

You've probably read a million articles and opinions on flu shots during pregnancy. I know I have, and back when I was pregnant during flu season I hemmed and hawed and worried and fretted before ultimately choosing to get vaccinated. It's probably never going to be a topic that's 100% controversy free, but here's the very latest based on what may be the largest study of its kind: if you're pregnant, it's safe to get a flu shot.

Not only that, getting vaccinated may prevent a terrible outcome. This new research shows that getting the flu while pregnant increases the risk of fetal death, and since we're currently in the midst of a widespread and intense flu epidemic, the time to get your shot -- if you haven't already -- is now.

About 30 seconds after you find out you're pregnant, you enter a crazy world called: IS THIS NORMAL? Your digestive system gets all techy, your body leaks goo, and everything smells unfamiliar. This was one of the big shocks of pregnancy for me. Usually if you feel bad, that means something is wrong. But with pregnancy, if you feel bad, it most likely means everything is just fine and dandy, puking lady!

The range of "normal" symptoms and experiences during pregnancy is almost as wide as your expanding ass. Belly! I mean belly. Here's just a sampling of things that happen during pregnancy that feel wrong but probably mean everything's great.

It's a good thing Kim Kardashian is already comfortable with being in the spotlight 24/7, because now that she's an official Celeb Mom-to-Be, the sanctimonious preggers police are gonna seriously scrutinize her every move. In fact, they've already started. Kim's first "offense" (maybe)? Having dinner at a sushi restaurant.

Oh no! Everybody knows eating raw fish when you're expecting is like the worst most dangerous thing EVER!! For shame, Kim!!

Except maybe it's not really such a big deal. First of all, we don't even know if she ate raw fish -- sheesh, maybe she ordered a California roll and edamame! And even if she did go for the sashimi, so what? I can assure you that giving up sushi is not something women in Japan have to expect when they're expecting. (Lower mercury level fish like salmon are recommended, however.) Look, I'm not saying pregnancy isn't a time to be cautious, but there's no need to be paranoid.

What's her majesty, the Duchess of Cambridge, craving now that she is expecting the Royal Heir? Certainly NOT grilled cheese sandwiches and onion rings! Heavens no. Kate Middleton is craving something a little more refined though nearly as decadent: Lavender shortbread.

As it happens, her father-in-law Prince Charles has a company called Duchy Originals that reportedly produces the biscuits (though I don't see them on the website), so she's got a steady supply. But why lavender? Isn't that dangerous for a pregnancy

I know you've all been asking and wondering about this. But just so you know? Gwyneth Paltrow isn't pregnant right now. OMG, you guys! You're so funny, always asking the Goop One when she's having another baby! But stop asking already, she's totally done having babies, okay? No more apples dropping from her tree.

What? It's only her buddy designer Diane von Furstenberg who's asking? Oh. Geez, thanks a lot Kate Middleton for totally hogging the celeb mom spotlight already!

Big news for those of you who wonder about pregnant nookie. You've heard that semen contains prostaglandin, right? Or that an orgasm can release it? Well, I guess they don't muster quite enough prostaglandin to trigger labor. Apparently, sex doesn't induce labor after all.

Researchers in Malaysia invited 1,100 women who were 35 to 38 weeks pregnant to, well, have at it with their baby-daddies. They told half to "have sex frequently." They gave no directions to the other half, only told them that while sex during pregnancy is safe the effects are unknown. And after all that whoopie, none of it seemed to make a difference.

Another day, another study telling us what may or may not cause autism? Well, yes, but this one that links autism with exposure to traffic pollution during pregnancy or the first year of a child's life seems to have some serious legs.

According to a study published in the Archives of General Psychiatry, researchers found that pregnant women exposed to high levels of pollution were as much as two to three times more likely to have a child with autism than those with the lowest exposure. That's a huge difference, and it's not the first time such a link has been found.

The strongest link was an exposure to nitrogen dioxide, which is found in high levels around freeways. Families living within 1,000 feet of a freeway were found to have the highest risk. So does that mean if you live in a high-traffic area, you should move the minute you get pregnant?

If there's one thing that seems clear about the murky subject of antidepressants during pregnancy, it's that there has never been a definitive answer about the risks these medications may cause to unborn children -- and without a standard, treatment decisions will continue to be made on a case by case basis.

That's not terribly comforting, and neither are the latest medical opinions on the topic, which came up during the American Society of Reproduction conference that happened earlier this week in San Diego. According to leading doctors in the field, the results of "study after study" show that most popular antidepressants, seratonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), are in fact associated with several dangerous pregnancy complications, such as premature birth and pre-eclampsia.

One professor of maternal-fetal medicine went so far as to call the practice of prescribing antidepressants during pregnancy "a large scale human experiment."

This week Olympic gold medalist Kerri Walsh Jennings revealed a big secret -- she's pregnant with her third child. Not only that, but she was already five weeks pregnant during the Olympic games in London this summer when she wowed the world with her moves.

Talk about pregnant power! She told Matt Lauer on the Today show yesterday, "When I was throwing my body around fearlessly, and going for gold for our country, I was pregnant, and today I'm 11 weeks pregnant."

While she wasn't sure she was pregnant during the Olympics competition, she knew something was off, because she was moody and her period was four days late. Her partner, Misty May-Treanor, guessed she was, and she was correct.
