In what is truly a medical miracle, a woman who was born without a womb is currently pregnant. In August 2011 she had the world's first successful womb transplant, and now, less than two years later, here she is expecting a child. Amazing.

According to Reuters, the 22-year-old Turkish woman, Derya Sert, conceived the baby via IVF. She's currently in good health, and doctors are hoping for the best for her and her baby.

If she delivers a healthy baby, it will be such a huge milestone for many women. According to the American Free Press, at least 1 in every 5,000 women is born without a womb. With so many conditions that cause infertility, there's at least hope for pregnancy. But without a womb, there is no hope ... or at least there wasn't.

Recent news that Halle Berry is pregnant was a big surprise to everyone, including Berry herself, but it's definitely a happy surprise. Her daughter Nahla is adorable, and we can only imagine the gorgeous child she and her fiance Olivier Martinez are going to create.

As exciting as the news is, however, it's also tinged with a bit of concern due to Berry's age. She doesn't look it, but she's 46, and that means her eggs, and her uterus, and all of her body parts are 46 years old too, no matter how fantastic they look.

So what does that mean for her and her baby ... besides the fact that she's going to 64 when the kid graduates high school?

I'm sure the linens were much nicer, but beyond that, a woman's recent birth experience in a four-star hotel was anything but ideal. She should have been delivering her baby in the hospital across the street, but they didn't think she was ready. They were wrong.

According to The Huffington Post, Michelle Booth started feeling contractions one day last month, so she and her partner, Richard Eades, hopped in a taxi and headed to their London hospital, as planned. Only when she got there, a midwife looked her over and said she wasn't dilated far enough and that she should come back when she was in full labor.

Booth said she felt further along, but they weren't given any other choice than to leave.

Last week Janelle Giannetta was 26 weeks pregnant with her first child. She wasn't feeling well, and decided to go lie down for awhile. A short while later her husband, Richard, heard their dog barking liked he'd never heard him bark before, and he knew something was wrong.

He was right. He raced upstairs where their 1-year-old Goldendoodle, Louie, was hovering over Janelle. The state he found her in was terrifying.

"Take your vitamins" is probably one of the most heard words a pregnant woman hears. We really need to listen. A new study has suggested a link between being deficient in vitamin D and gestational diabetes, preeclampsia, various infections, fetal growth restriction, and c-sections. The bad stuff. The stuff we don't want to happen.

I read some studies and get very skeptical about these supposed links, but this one makes sense to me. My son was fetal growth restricted. I ended up having a c-section from late onset preeclampsia. I'm deficient in vitamin D.

Can sex late in pregnancy harm your baby? Doctors say no. Unless you're doing something violent at the same time, it doesn't harm the baby, and it doesn't trigger labor. But one mom blamed her baby's death on sex she had with her husband.

Karen Smith checked into the hospital after she started bleeding and cramping a few hours after having sex. She was 31 weeks into her pregnancy. Her doctors didn't seem to think the bleeding and cramping were a big deal. They told her it was a normal thing to happen after sex. But not only did Karen's baby die during emergency surgery, she had to have her uterus removed!

If you're the type of person who believes everything in life happens for a reason, then you'll absolutely love hearing about a mom who credits her unborn baby with saving her life.

When Jane Heffey started experiencing heavy bleeding during the 20th week of her pregnancy, she was devastated to learn that the cause was actually a tumor on her cervix. It turns out the baby was putting pressure on her cervix while growing in her womb, which caused the bleeding.

And if the tumor wasn't bad enough news, Jane then learned that she did, indeed, have cancer -- and it had spread to her lymph nodes and possibly her bladder.

Wait -- her story gets even worse.

Kim Kardashian is talking again about how everyone tricked her into thinking pregnancy would be so much easier than it really is. With her baby bump swathed in leather and lace (thanks, Kim, for getting that Stevie Nicks song stuck in my head) at a special screening for Temptation, Kardashian admitted, "Being pregnant is not as easy as my sister [Kourtney] made it look or my mom made it look." In fact, Kim goes on, "It's a little painful. I've gotten sick a couple times. It's getting a little bit more difficult [to get around]."

Kourtney! Kris! How could you deceive Kim like this, making pregnancy look like Fun Times in the Family Way?

To say Fatema Al Ansari had a high-risk pregnancy is a massive understatement. At 19, a blood clot was found in a major vein to her intestines, and in 2007 she had surgery in which she was given a new liver, pancreas, stomach, and small and large intestine.

Then just a few weeks ago, Ansari, now 26, did what no one thought she could do -- she gave birth. According to the Associated Press, Ansari, who lives in Qatar, delivered her daughter, Alkadi Alhayal, on February 26 in the same Miami hospital in which her surgery was performed. The baby weighed in at 4 pounds, 7 ounces, and both mom and baby are doing well. Incredible.

One transplant surgery is a huge deal, but to have five vital organs replaced is monumental. So the fact that she recently gave birth to a healthy baby girl is what many would call miraculous.
