My husband and I were trying to have a baby for months, so each month when my period was late, I'd want to take a pregnancy test right away. We spent a lot of money on pregnancy tests! I would always take it too soon because I was so anxious and then would waste another one a few days later.
But back in March, I remember having a stronger urge to take the test, even though hubs said to wait a few more days. I took it when he wasn't home and it instantly told me I was pregnant. I waited out the three minutes and yep, still pregnant.
So then I had to figure out how I was going to share the great news when he got home. I set the dinner table and instead of putting a fork on the napkin, I put the positive pregnancy test. He almost didn't notice it when he sat down, probably because I stood there staring at him with a big grin on my face, but when he did, his whole face lit up. Then I lifted my shirt to reveal the word "baby" written on my belly.
We ended up learning it was twins!
But check out this idea -- an I'm Pregnant coffee stencil to share the news ($10 from CoffeeStencil.com)!
This would have made a great accompaniment to my pregnancy test on the napkin thing. So clever!
How did you share your pregnancy news?

My brother was here visiting right after we found out, so we sent him home with a card colored by my then 2 year old son. It said "Guess what?!" and on the inside it said "I'm going to be a big brother!" He handed it to our mom as soon as he walked off the plane and she called me shrieking with excitement!! The best part? My sister and my other brother knew and kept it from her for almost a month!!
With our first, I said to SO "Happy Father's day!" because it was then that i suspected I was pregnant. I still had to go to the doctor, but yes I was pregnant. My mom found out when we were rear ended on the interstate and the EMT told her he wanted me to go to the ER and get checked out since I was pregnant. Her answer? "She's WHAT?!" He felt so bad! I told him it was my fault for not telling her sooner.
With my second, I showed SO the test without a word. I was freaked because our son was barely a year old. Of course, he pumped his fist in victory like he just won the Superbowl. This time, I still didn't tell my mom right away, but she figured it out and asked me if I was since I had gained a few pounds and had a baby bump. She asked why I hadn't learned my lesson about not telling her right away after the time she found out from a stranger. I still don't have an answer for her!
We sent a picture via email of my husband holding up a teensy blue onesie with a shocked expression on his face. lol
With out first I tested and called DH at work. The bad thing was he was driving a loaded truck down the road and almost recked! The second time I wanted to do someting special, but as soon as he walked through the door is spilled... Maybe I will be creative the next time!
When I was preggo with my son I took a test it was positive and hubby was at work and got out late that day so I call him because I coulnt wait. I told him and he was surprise but not sure to celebrate until I had the blood test so I run to the lab that day. had to wait an hour hubby call me 15 times it was the LONGETS hour of my life. I had the resulta and when I saw it was positive I call him and he was like ''WELL WHAT?'' When I told him yes he scream and was already driving home early he said he almost hit a car during the exciment LOL. He came home hug me and call everyone. We went to my MIL to tell her the good news.
My husband and I love watching "How I Met Your Mother," and there is this one episode where the women in their group of friends catch "baby fever" from a stray infant sock that was left in their apartment. Each time they would hold up the sock, their faces would fall and they would get all mushy. Shortly after I took the pregnancy test, I walked over to my husband with a baby sock and laid it on his knee. He was confused for a second, and then he smiled. :-)
when i was pregnant with my son i went up to visit and tell my parents i forgot i was April first. my sister said "April fools right". we want to have another and my mom told me not to tell the on April fools agin.
My husband came home with the pregnancy test. I took it and we celebrated.
For the first two my husband was right there when I took the test. We waited very impatiently and then we were all grins when they were possitive. With the third which I am still carrying (Thanksgiving 09) I called him at work and told him I had taken a test and it was possitive. He asked if I was sure?!? Anyway, I called my mom of course not thinking that she was a little busy, she was driving home from the hospital after taking my sister to have her baby! She laughed and asked If i was teesing her. I said no, why would I do that? She said "It's April Fools Day!" I had completely forgotten! She called my grandmother later that evening after I had convinced her I was not joking. My grandmother said "This better not be a &^%& April Fools Joke!"
