We're joining Kim (aka wntg1grl), a stay-at-home mom of three who's expecting twins, on her exciting journey from bump-to-babies. Check back every week for the latest developments.
Week 19
What's Happening with Mom:
I had an
anatomy scan last week. Everything looks great with the babies and, yes, they are without a doubt two girls!
They did a
vaginal ultrasound to check my cervical length, and it is nice and long (whew). I will see the perinatologist every four weeks from now on to measure the babies' growth and my cervical length.
I've felt a small bit of movement this week. I don't feel them a lot, mostly in the evening when I'm not busy. I cannot tell who is who ... I wish I could.
The three boys are now all sleeping in the same room to make way for their sisters.
I am having a hard time getting my little Logan to sleep in there, though. He does fine until about 3 a.m., and then comes crying into the bed with us. Little by little he will transition, hopefully before the girls get here.
What's Happening with Babies:
We are moving all around, even though you may not feel us yet. Hang in there, you will. Our brains are developing at an amazing rate. Millions of motor neurons are forming inside the brain, allowing us to make voluntary muscle movements, including thumb sucking and moving away from lights.
Question of the Week from Answers:
Do twins kick each other in the womb? -- anonymous
anonymous: "Of course they kick each other, but they don't get hurt. Try punching someone when you're under water in a pool. Doesn't work too well, does it? :)
