We're joining Kim (aka wntg1grl), a stay-at-home mom of three who's expecting twins, on her exciting journey from bump-to-babies. Check back every week for the latest developments.
I am still waiting for quickening. That is such a magical part of pregnancy, and I am getting anxious. At my last appointment, I had only gained ONE pound. That is shocking. I am four months pregnant with twins and I am still 7 pounds away from my pre-pregnancy weight. I thought it would all come back so much faster.
With the way my back feels, I should weigh a ton, LOL. The doctor did say that I am measuring at 20 weeks after measuring my uterus, so I know my girls are growing fine. They just aren't kicking me, which is very normal. Maybe not until 20 weeks. I will just wait!
This is the last week of summer vacation until the boys will being going to public school for the first time on August 31. This is a huge change for our family. I have always been a home-school mom. My boys have never been in public school, but knowing that twins are on the way and I have my little 20 month old, it just isn't in their best interest to have me be their teacher. So the tears will flow for me on the 31st as my "little" boys venture into the world of public school!
What's Happening with Babies:
We're about the size of small avocados now, and we're poised to make a huge jump in weight in the next few weeks, doubling in size and growing much longer. So you'll probably notice the scale climb a notch or two then. Our eyes and ears are almost in the right position, and the adult teeth buds are forming behind the baby teeth buds.
Question of the Week from Answers:
I am underweight and pregnant. How can I gain? -- anonymous
anonymous: Eat when you are hungry. If you are like me and are never hungry, you have to force yourself. Try to stick with three meals a day with three snacks. As for the meat, if you eat more peanuts and things with protein you don't have to eat meat. Just make sure you get the daily recommended amount of protein and you should be fine.

You look great fellow mama to be of twins! I am 22 weeks...and the kicking started for me at 20 weeks. I had some minor flutters before that but it may have been gas. :)
Hope your back feels better.
It sounds like you need to take a break and put those feet in the air!
Wishing you all the luck in the world as you send your little ones off to school, I'm sure that will be an emotional day for you; but I am also sure they will adjust just fine and it sounds like you are making the best decision for them.
Hope your back feels better soon!
