I told my husband that I got this adorable layette set for baby boy. Don't worry baby girl -- I'll get you one too! And you know what he said? What's a layette set?
It's our first child, well children (twins), so we're new at this. We're learning!
I explained it was like a starter set of clothes and PJs for a newborn all in one box. And I found this one for under $20!
Fisher-Price's Precious Planet Newborn Layette Gift Set ($19.99 at Target) is made with 100 percent cotton and includes a shirt, pants, onesie, diaper cover, and rattle. The boy set features monkeys and lions; the girl's layette set has giraffes.
Anyone that knows me, knows I love monkeys. Love them!
And how can you not love the price? Makes a great baby shower gift, but for us mamas-to-be trying to save money, this one won't break the bank.

Jeez - I said the same thing - "What's a layette?" Good thing I have 30 more weeks to learn about all this cute stuff!
That is a cute one!
Honestly, layette sets are more traditional as gifts - not as stuff you purchase for yourself. I don't know how much money you guys make, Michele, but you'll find individual matching pieces you love for a lot cheaper than when it's labeled as a layette set.
Who cares if layette sets are more traditional as gifts...if you find something you love for your baby and you think its a good price why not buy it? Personally I have bought tons of clothes and blankets for my baby already...and I have about 4 months to go. I just can't resist all of the cute things they have to offer!!
I like that set too but honestly I can find layette sets just as cute for 9.99 where i live...still its a nice set though
