We're following a first-time pregnant mom, Brittany (bam61907), on her exciting journey from bump to baby. And the day has arrived -- Brittany shares her birth story!

Last time we talked to this mama-to-be she was on her way to the hospital to be induced.

The Birth
What's Happening with Mom:

On July 1st, I called the labor deck at 6am and they told me to come in at 11am. We got there and they began 45 minutes later with some pill that I forgot the name of but they put it up in my cervix -- it makes me contract and dilate. After four hours, I was still at 1cm, which is what I was when I arrived. So they put a foley bulb in to make me go to 3cm. About an hour after, I got the epidural.

They continued by breaking my water and starting Pitocin early in the morning. Things were moving slow. It took me a while to dilate from 3 to 5cm, and then 5 to 7cm.

Then on the morning of July 2nd, her heart rate kept fluctuating. They told me if it continued to drop they would have to do a c-section.

Every time they tried to increase the P, her heart rate would drop. So at 11am on July 2nd, doctors said they needed to do a c-section right away because her heart rate dropped low again. I was so scared.

I went to the operating room and they cleaned me up. They then let my husband come in the room and he asked if I was OK. I said yes, I am completely numb.

Well...so I thought. They began the c-section and I quickly realized I was NOT numb all the way. I felt the incision. It was not just pressure, I felt a lot of pain. Then they began pushing on my upper stomach and pushing down. It felt like a million pounds of pressure and shooting pain. I immediately started screaming that I was not numb and needed more medicine.

It felt like forever until they stopped, but I am sure it was only a matter of a seconds. They gave me more medicine to numb me and then I was knocked out. I woke up to the doctor asking if I could hear my baby girl crying. I began to cry when I heard her. I soon then knocked back out.

When I woke back up, my husband was to my left holding Aubrey. She was so little and looked so peaceful. The medicine they put in me made fall asleep again and I woke back up in a recovery room where Aubrey was getting cleaned and weighed. She weighed 6lbs 2oz and was 20 inches long. She was born at 11:46am on July 2nd. We got to leave the hospital on July 5th.

My first reaction when I held her for the first time was a rush of so many emotions. I was so happy and relieved. I cried a little too when I held her. I did not want to let her go, I just wanted to kiss and hug her endlessly.

The first couple days at home were pretty easy. She sleeps pretty good through the night so far. My family and friends have been over to visit and help which helps us out. My husband, Justin, is back at work today and it is a little overwhelming for me but I will manage.

Welcome to the world, beautiful Aubrey! Congrats Brittany & Justin!
