Photo from Casting Keepsakes
Some people do the belly cast, but I really want to do the henna belly. I have tattoos, but none on my tummy. My friend Jenny has a large tattoo on her belly and I have to say it looked beautiful even as her baby grew. And it still looks good even after -- she moisturized...a lot.
I found this chemical-free, all natural Pregnancy Henna Art Kit ($21.95) that I really want. Think about how great the belly shots will look?
My husband thinks it's kind of weird, but I'm into it. I love henna art -- I have a henna-inspired tattoo on my right forearm. People wonder if it's real because it's the same color as henna.
What I also like about henna is that when used during pregnancy, this ancient practice is said to be soothing and calming, and is believed to help bring about an easy birth and healthy child.
This kit is natural, but be sure to check ingredients if using another kit or going to a henna artist. Only natural henna, sugar, lemon juice, and lavender oil are recommended for use during pregnancy. Avoid if you are anemic and if you have any concerns, of course, ask your doctor first.
Would you henna your belly?

I got henna on my belly during my first pregnancy and I would definitely do it again this pregnancy
Does anyone here understand or know the cultural background on this type of thing? It's kind of cool I guess. I still just think it's a little funny that so many do things like this without knowing or understanding the culture. lol
why not if your anemic? I am anemic....
I couldn't answer that KatieP. only because I am not a doctor and don't want to say something I don't know much about. But that's what the site said, actually it said "avoid if you are extremely anemic". I would just ask your doctor first.
I think it's definitely cool looking! I have never seen it before. how long do they stay on?
It stays on for about 7 to 10 days, gradually fading each day.
I think it does look really pretty, but I have saw some people who had massive reactions to the henna inks that left major scaring and nasty blisters. I would not do it after knowing people who has adverse reactions to it.
Yes some of the henna inks have chemicals. This one is all natural.
I want to do it sooooo badly, waiting for a renaissance festival at the end of july simply because I have no artistic talent. :) but I'm super excited!
I saw a woman with the coolest Henna belly. She had the nice cute tummy and had a sun patteren done on her belly. I loved it, thought it was just beautiful. Why not celebrate the life inside. And yes to a PP I do know the cultural background on Henna Tattoo's.
