I'm a total sucker for striped t-shirts. They're one of those pieces I buy over and over again for no reason...it's kind of a problem. But there's something so nautical-chic about them! A striped tee and khakis looks Parisian-girl cute; a striped tee under a sharp black suit has a preppy cool. So now that my belly has outgrown my favorite ones, I'm looking for a replacement.
Surprisingly, I got my inspiration from the Gwyneth Paltrow newsletter, GOOP. (Do any of you read it? I'm torn: It's so self-satisfied, on the one hand, and on the other hand she has really nice taste.) She did a whole eBay sale of clothes for charity, a while back, and the stuff was pretty amazing. This top is authentically French and slightly oversized, which will look great with the sleeves rolled up (so that it doesn't swamp your upper body) and worn with something more body-conscious on the bottom, like skinny pants or an above-the-knee skirt. Definitely offset it with something slim, otherwise you'll run the risk of looking like a blob.
I'm going to pair it with a denim mini and red patent flats. I think it'll be my new weekend uniform.
What do you think of this look for a mama-to-be? Do you have a weekend outfit?
